This invention is directed to a self-propelled elevator system having multiple motors or one motor, and methods for synchronizing said multiple motors. This invention is also directed to an elevator brake system to be used in said self-propelled elevator system or other types of elevators to increase their level of safety.

An elevator car (6) defining an interior space (12) for accommodating passengers comprises a support frame (22) positioned on a top side of the interior space (12); a support structure (30) pivotably mounted to the support frame (22); and a working platform (28) pivotably mounted to the support structure (30). The support structure (30) is pivotable with respect to the support frame (22) and the working platform (28) is pivotable with respect to the support structure (30) between a retracted position, in which the working platform (28) and the support structure (30) are oriented close to the support frame (22), and a deployed position, in which the support structure (30) extends away from the support frame (22) towards the interior space (12) and the working platform (28) extends away from the support structure (30).

Each carriage assembly is removably attached to a corresponding belt tensioner assembly, and defines a center plate and two side plates. Each side plate defines at least a removable set of guiding wheels and a first set of guiding members.

Elevator car dynamic sag damping system

A damping device for damping movement of a parked car in an elevator system includes a base plate and at least one damping assembly connected to the base plate. The damping assembly includes a flange extending from the base plate, a support member arranged at a distance from the flange, and at least one damping mechanism having a first end connected to the flange and a second end connected to the support member. The at least one damping assembly restricts movement of the support member toward the flange.

An elevator access control system comprises at least two cameras (14, 16) including: a first camera (14) which is configured to be mounted to an elevator car (6) for capturing at least one first picture of persons residing within the elevator car (6), and a second camera (16) which is configured to be mounted to the elevator car (6) for capturing at least one second picture of persons residing within the elevator car (6). The at least one first picture allows to identify individual persons, and the at least one second picture allows to count the number of persons residing within the elevator car (6).

The elevator car frames include a first upright, a second upright, a first support element connected to the first upright, a second support element connected to the second upright, and a retractable crosshead having a first portion and a second portion extending between the first and second support elements, wherein the retractable crosshead is operable between a first state wherein the first portion and the second portion are connected and a second state wherein the first portion and the second portion are separated.

An elevator car (2) includes a roof (4) and an emergency stop device (6) mounted on the roof (4). The emergency stop device (6) is mounted to move between a first position (8) on the roof (4) during a normal operation mode and a second, different position on the roof (4) during an inspection mode. For example, the emergency stop device (6) is movably mounted to a safety balustrade (12) installed on the roof (4). A safety volume (30) may therefore be positioned to align better with a maintenance area (22) on the roof.

Hybrid energy storage system architectures

A hybrid energy storage system for an elevator car includes a converter disposed on the elevator car and receives power from a power source and provides a first DC voltage to a first DC bus and a second DC voltage to a second DC bus, a first energy storage device connected to the converter receives the first DC voltage on the first DC bus, and a second energy storage device connected to the converter receives the second DC voltage on the second DC bus. The system also includes a first load connected to the first DC bus and a second DC bus, and a second load connected to the second DC bus. Power is provided from the first energy storage device to the first load under a first selected condition and power is supplied from the second energy storage device to the first load under second selected condition.
