Passenger transport system with monitoring and marking device for characterizing defective step units
The application relates to passenger transport systems and related methods. The passenger transport system has multiple step units, a comb plate, a monitoring device, and a marking device. The step units are to be moved one behind the other continuously along a predefined movement path during normal operation. The comb plate is arranged at a fixed position relative to the predefined movement path. The monitoring device is configured to monitor an actual position of a currently monitored step unit relative to the predefined movement path and to detect a deviation of the actual position from the predefined movement path by more than an allowable tolerance value and activate the marking device in response thereto. Upon being activated, the marking device is configured to mark the currently monitored step unit and/or a step unit spatially correlating to the currently monitored step unit.

DRIVE BELT FOR PEOPLE CONVEYORS
A drive belt (10; 20; 60) for a people conveyor comprises: a load bearing portion (12; 22; 62) extending in a longitudinal direction and having a length extending in the longitudinal direction and a width extending in a width direction; and a plurality of rollers (17; 27; 67) accommodated within the width of the load bearing portion (12; 22; 62). At least a part of the load bearing portion (12; 22; 62) is provided with a drive belt engagement structure (13; 23; 63). The drive belt engagement structure (13; 23; 63) in particular includes teeth (14, 25; 24), grooves (16; 26), and/or openings.
CHAIN DRIVE FOR A PEOPLE CONVEYOR
A chain drive (10) for a people conveyor (1) having a plurality of conveyance elements (4) comprises a drive chain (12) which is configured for driving the conveyance elements (4). The drive chain (12) includes a plurality of drive chain links (16) traveling along a closed path including a conveyance portion (5) and a return portion (7). The drive chain (12) further includes a plurality of linkages (42). Each linkage (42) is configured for coupling the drive chain (12) with one of the plurality of conveyance elements (4). The length of each linkage (42) along the path of the drive chain (12) is variable.
COMB PLATE AND PEOPLE CONVEYOR
A comb plate (16) for a people conveyor (2) comprises a plurality of teeth (18, 20), wherein at least one of the teeth (20) includes a mechanical entrapment detection switch which is configured for detecting an incident of entrapment at said at least one tooth (20).

Passenger conveyor
A plurality of steps are linked by endless step chains. Each of the steps includes: a step main body; first shafts that are disposed on the step main body; first step rollers that are disposed on the first shafts, and that are guided by the first guide rails; second shafts that are parallel to the first shafts; and second step rollers that are disposed on the second shafts, and that are guided by the second guide rails. The first shafts move along first pathways, and the second shafts move along second pathways. The second pathways are positioned inside the first pathways when viewed parallel to respective shaft axes of the first shafts. The step chains link each of the steps by joining the second shafts of each of the steps, and are disposed within a range of the step main body in an axial direction of the first shafts.

Transport Device
A transport device for conveying passengers between first and second landing areas in a conveying direction may include a skirt member and a balustrade, which may include lower and upper sides, extending between the landing areas. The skirt member may be secured to the lower side. An endless moving handrail may form a loop. A first section of the handrail moves along the upper side of the balustrade in the conveying direction, and a second section of the handrail moves within the skirt member opposite the conveying direction. Two turnaround sections are disposed between the first and second sections near the first and second landing areas, respectively. At least one of the turnaround sections includes a cover member that renders part of the turnaround section of the handrail inaccessible to passengers. The cover member may comprise a positioning mechanism for adjustably positioning the cover member relative to the balustrade.
