HEAVY EQUIPMENT HAZARD WARNING APPARATUS AND SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR USE OF SAME
20220112694 · 2022-04-14 ·

A heavy equipment hazard warning apparatus for a piece of heavy equipment at a site and a system and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment of the heavy equipment hazard warning apparatus, the location of the heavy equipment is monitored by the heavy equipment warning apparatus and analyzed with reference to a hazard safety site plan of the site that identifies a hazard such as existing utilities, for example. An alert notification is initialized in response to the heavy equipment encroaching on a hazard geofence around the hazard. A shutdown notification is initialized in response to the heavy equipment being proximate to the hazard.

SUPERVISORY CONTROL ARRANGEMENT FOR A VESSEL

In a vessel for installing a structure onto or into a seabed, multiple actuators comprised by a dynamic positioning system and a structure positioning system may be used for controlling a position and/or orientation of the structure. When two actuators are actuated simultaneously or in rapid succession, instabilities may occur. Furthermore, two actuators may be working in opposite directions or with opposite control goals. To increase stability and/or workability of the vessel's actuators, a supervisory control arrangement is provided to interconnect control systems of different actuators of the vessel, for example the dynamic positioning system and the structure positioning system. Where previously the dynamic positioning system and the structure position system were individually operating system, with the supervisory control arrangement one system can take into account an input and/or output of the other system.

There is provided a crane for enabling easily carrying out an operation of a boom such as raising and lowering, telescoping, or turning, by displaying a range wherein a hook may be moved or may not be moved in a direction approaching a vehicle part of the crane. The crane includes: a vehicle; a boom positioned upon the vehicle; a wire rope being suspended from a base end side of the boom toward a leading end side thereof; a hook being hung from the leading end side of the boom and raised and lowered by winding and unwinding the wire rope; a camera for photographing an image including the hook; a display device for displaying the image; and a control device connected to the camera and the display device, the control device being for processing information. On the basis of the length of the boom or the height of the hook, the control device computes an inner boundary which is a boundary between a range where the hook may move, and a range where the hook may not move, in a direction approaching the vehicle. The display device displays an image wherein images indicating the inner boundary are superimposed on the image photographed with the camera.

Method for crane assembly

The invention relates to a method for crane configuration and crane assembly on the basis of an online portal, which holds at least one database with a plurality of standard crane configurations or is connected to the same, with an interface for the user access to the online portal, wherein a crane user virtually composes their individual crane configuration from a plurality of standard configurations and the individual crane configuration is stored on the online portal, wherein at least one further database of the online portal, or an externally connected database, holds assembly information about the stored individual crane configuration, the online portal filters the assembly information relevant in relation to the stored crane configuration and provides it for retrieval by an assembly team.

Apparatus and methods for sensing boom side deflection or twist

A crane includes a boom adapted for lifting a load and a sensor adapted for measuring the side deflection or twist of the boom during the lifting of the load. The crane may also include a system for detecting side deflection in the boom using a first sensor mounted to the boom for sensing a first value corresponding to deflection of the boom, a second sensor for sensing a second, reference value, and a controller for comparing the first and second values to determine a deflection amount. An operator may be notified if the side deflection or twist values exceed a predetermined value. Side deflection or twist values for the boom during a lifting operation may also be logged by a data recording device for later use.

CRANE AND METHOD FOR WEATHERVANING SUCH A CRANE

The present invention relates to a method for weathervaning of a crane which has a boom which can rotate about a vertical axis, a slewing gear motor and a slewing gear service brake for securing the boom in a rotational position with a securing torque in the crane mode, wherein in the case of a crane which has been out-of-operation, the boom is braked against rotation with an out-of-operation mode braking torque which is less than said securing torque in the crane mode. In this respect, the invention also relates to such a crane itself, in particular in the form of a revolving tower crane. In accordance with the invention, the out-of-operation mode braking torque is kept at least approximately constant over the range of the speed of rotation and over the range of the angle of rotation of the boom.
