ADJUSTABLE LENGTH WINCH APPARATUS
An adjustable length winch apparatus is disclosed. The adjustable length winch apparatus comprises a first motor, a first drum, a second drum, and a shaft. The first motor is configured to rotate the first drum and the shaft on an axis. The second drum is adapted to be rotated by the shaft on the axis. The shaft and the second drum are configured to adjust the distance between the first and second drum.

WINCH CONTROL SYSTEM
A winch control system includes: a distance measurement unit that measures a winch-to-winch distance between first and second winches based on the wound length of a second wire or the unwound length of a first wire when an object suspended through the first wire from the first winch and suspended through the second wire from the second winch is moved from the first winch to the second winch; and a relative position determination unit that determines the relative position of the second winch with respect to the first winch based on the winch-to-winch distance. The length of the first wire unwound from the first winch and the length of the second wire unwound from the second winch are calculated based on the relative position of the second winch with respect to the first winch and the target position of the object.
Hoisting winch assembly
The present invention relates to a hoisting winch assembly comprising at least two preferably axially parallel drums spaced from each other axially, which can be driven in synchronism with each other by two motors via a transmission assembly. The invention furthermore relates to a crane, in particular a gantry and/or container crane, with such hoisting winch assembly. According to the invention, the transmission assembly has at least two separate gear trains, so that each motor is in drive connection with one drum each via a separate gear train. As compared to a common transmission to which both motors are connected, the separate gear trains can be configured significantly lighter and smaller, as no longer the power of both motors added up, but only the power of one motor must be transmitted. Nevertheless, high hoisting powers can be provided on the whole, as each motor must drive only one drum.
