SKATE DRIVE SYSTEM FOR A CATWALK
A skate drive system for a catwalk having a skate and a clamping assembly. The system includes a primary actuator and a secondary actuator. The primary actuator is configured to apply a drive force to first and second cables to move the skate along a trough of the catwalk. The secondary actuator is configured to apply a tension force to at least one of the first and second cables independent of the primary actuator to actuate the clamping assembly from an unclamped position to a clamped position.
Balanced Locking Pawl for a Retractor
Provided herein is a balanced locking pawl. In particular, the center of gravity of the locking pawl is located at or near the pivot point of the locking pawl. The balanced approach allows for a faster locking response during the rebound (whiplash/return) forces of a crash.
Apparatus and method for removing equipment parts from a platform of a wind turbine generator, and method for filling a fuel tank on said platform
A power pack [2] is located within a housing [3] on the platform [1] of a wind turbine generator tower. The power pack [2] is supplied from a fuel tank [4]. With the door [6] of the housing [3] open, the power pack [2] may be removed for servicing and repair by using a U-shaped support structure [8] to which an electric motor [11] is mounted. Two support rails [12] permanently located within the housing [3] support the housed power pack [2]. A chain [15] attached to the power pack [2] is driven by the motor [11] to remove the power pack [2] from the housing [3] by sliding the power pack [2]along the support structure [8]. A pulley arrangement reduces the necessary torque. After removing the power pack [2] from the housing [3], a crane [7] is used to lift the power pack [2] from the platform [1] and to lower it down to a sea vessel [17]. The crane [7] may also be used in the refilling of the fuel tank [4] by hauling a fuel line [18] from a sea vessel up to the platform [1] and connecting it to the fuel tank [4].
ROPE MAINTENANCE SYSTEM
A method of spooling a crane rope (2) onto a crane drum through a crane rope spooling system (1) from a reel (31) under a predetermined back tension is described and includes the steps of: unspooling the crane rope (2) from a reel (31) and passing the crane rope through a tensioning system (10) comprising a primary back tensioner (12) and a secondary back tensioner (16); gripping the crane rope (2) within the secondary back tensioner (16) and thereby preloading the crane rope (2) with tension prior to the crane rope (2) passing through the primary back tensioner (12); and applying a predetermined back tension to the crane rope (2) with the primary back tensioner (12) as the crane rope (2) is being spooled onto the crane drum under the predetermined back tension.
A crane rope spooling system (1) for spooling crane rope (2) onto a crane drum under a predetermined back tension is also described, said system (10) comprising a tensioning system (10) comprising at least a primary back tensioner (12) and a secondary back tensioner (16) and a reel (31).
FRAME FOR TRENCHLESS PIPE REPLACEMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD
A pipe replacement system and cable guide frame are shown. Configurations are shown that include plurality of guide pulleys attached to the cable guide frame to define a curved path between a pipe to be replaced and a cable pulling system. Configurations are shown where a pipe breaking tool is pulled over the plurality of guide pulleys for ease of removal after a replacement operation. Configurations are also shown that include a stationary splitter adjacent to the cable pulling system to prevent jamming of the cable pulling system.
TRAILER MOUNTED CAPSTAN WINCH
A portable winch system includes a frame, a pair of wheels, a motor that is secured to the frame; and a capstan that is secured to the frame and that is rotatable via the motor. A rope is wound about the capstan in a manner that enables a user to grasp a tail end of the rope and induce friction between the capstan and the portion of the rope that is wound about the capstan. A tow end of the rope is attachable to an object to be pulled by the winch. An input guide attached to the frame is configured to receive the rope and direct the rope toward the capstan as the object is pulled toward the winch. An alignment guide attached to the frame is configured to contact the rope and align the rope about the capstan as the rope is wound about the capstan.
Power Bar for Winch
A winch is described that includes a rotatable drum comprising a winch cable windably connected to the winch drum, and a removable vehicle winch frame. The winch comprises a winch motor, a gear assembly, and a power bar spanning the winch drum, the power bar being connected to an electrical power source and comprising an electrical power connection for powering auxiliary hardware. A winch controller comprising manual and app related software in communication with the motor, allows the controller to receive manual and or app related commands from a user to operate the winch assembly.
V-sling with hook positioning adapter
A V-sling (100) for use in winching a vehicle includes a master linking device (150) and at least two longitudinally extending flaccid leg members (114) coupled on a first end to the master linking device (150). The opposing second end of the flaccid leg members (114) are respectively coupled to a plurality of hooks (116, 116a). The master linking device (150) includes having a load coupling linkage (152) and a hook positioning adapter (154). The load coupling linkage (152) defines a first plane and the hook positioning adapter (154) is disposed in a second plane. The second plane is transverse to the first plane for positioning a winch hook (62) engaged therewith in a plane corresponding to the first plane.
Tow System
A portable tow system includes a drive system for removable mounting to a first anchor point, a flywheel system for removable mounting to a second anchor point distal from the first anchor point, and a tow strap for connecting a drive wheel of the drive system to a flywheel of the flywheel system. One or more persons or objects can be removably attached or connected to the tow strap. The drive system includes a motor for causing the drive wheel to rotate, which rotation causes the tow strap to rotate, such that the person(s) or object(s) connected thereto may be pulled from the first anchor point to the second anchor point or vice versa.
