PALLETIZER-DEPALLETIZER SYSTEM FOR DISTRIBUTION FACILITIES

An automated storage and retrieval system includes a storage array of storage locations for case units. An in-out case conveyor is capable of bi-directionally transporting case units to and from the storage array, and an in-out loaded pallet conveyor is capable of bi-directionally transporting loaded pallets towards and away from the storage array. A palletizer-depalletizer cell includes a bi-directional pallet transport system with more than one independently driven pallet transports, each with a different pallet holder independently movable relative to a cell frame. Placement of case units commissioning a pallet layer loading a pallet, and removal of case units decommissioning a pallet layer unloading another pallet are both effected at the common pallet layer interface at a predetermined level of the cell frame. The pallet transports independently index a first and a second of the different pallet holders, each independently holding the pallet loading at the common pallet layer interface.

Cargo loading systems for use with a cargo storage area of a vehicle are described. In one form, the cargo loading system has a mast frame and a carriage assembly supported by the mast frame. The carriage assembly has lifting forks, and a fork lateral control mechanism configured to control lateral movement of the lifting forks across the carriage assembly. A carriage pivot control mechanism controls pivotal movement of the carriage assembly relative to the mast frame about a first vertical axis. A fork pivot control mechanism controls pivotal movement of the lifting forks relative to the carriage assembly about a second vertical axis, between a first position in which the lifting forks extend away from the carriage assembly and a second position in which the lifting forks extend along carriage assembly. A carriage vertical control assembly controls raising and lowering of the carriage assembly relative to the mast frame, and a mast frame actuating assembly controls lateral movement of the mast frame relative to an open end of the cargo storage area of the vehicle.

Pallet Lifting Rack and Pallet Handling System

A pallet lifting rack includes a pair of lifting devices. Each of the lifting devices has a frame, a movable bracket mounted on the frame and movable in a vertical direction relative to the frame, a support member connected to the movable bracket, and a driving device driving the movable bracket and the support member to move along the vertical direction. The support members of the pair of lifting devices support a bottom surface of a pallet from a pair of sides of the pallet, so that the pallet is supported on the support members and movable to different height positions in the vertical direction by the support members.

UNLOADING BULK GOODS FROM A LATERALLY OPEN LARGE CONTAINER

A method unloads bulk goods from a laterally open large container using an unloading device with a tilting unit and a platform. The tilting unit and the platform have a common rotational axis. Both the bulk goods and the unloading device are prevented from being damaged. The laterally open large container which is filled with a bulk good is positioned on the tilting unit. The platform is flipped up such that the platform closes the opening side of the large container. The tilting unit is tilted together with the large container located thereon and the platform closing the opening side of the large container about the common rotational axis such that the large container is positioned on the container opening side, and the bulk good is deposited on the platform. The tilting unit is then tilted back together with the large container, the bulk good remaining on the platform.
