Winch handle operated bottle closures and methods for using
Novel closures for bottles comprising a bottle closure having a socket shaped and sized to receive the drive head of a convention winch handle and a closure means for securing the closure to the neck of the bottle to seal the bottle. Two such closures are described, one of for use with beer style bottle and another for rum or whiskey style bottles. The closures are particularly useful for bottled beverages brought aboard sailboats that use manual winches. The closures can be removed from the bottles using winch handles that are already aboard the sailboat, allowing the beverages to be consumed.

Jar Lid Opener
Rotating or pressing one or more handles will rotate one or more cams which push on the lid side. This causes a lever to rotate and forces two opposing jaws to press on the jar. With further rotating or pressing, the cam(s) rotates more and its rough surface or teeth forces the lid to rotate with high torque. Since the cam size is smaller than the lid diameter, much less force is needed to open the lid. And since the jar lid opener grips both the lid and the jar at the same time, there is no need to hold the jar tight while rotating or press the handles.
Removably attachable clamp device
A clamp device for securing an object, the clamp device including an attachment device configured for attachment to a flat surface in a first direction; and a trigger clamp including a pair of adjustable jaws adjustable in a second direction and an actuation mechanism of the pair of adjustable jaws including both a lock function and an unlock function and an adjustment structure for adjusting a space encompassed within the pair of adjustable jaws, wherein the trigger clamp is coupled to the attachment device, the actuation mechanism is configured to be operated with only one action with only one hand of a user while the trigger clamp is coupled to the attachment device to secure the object in the space and the second direction is disposed substantially at a right angle to the first direction.
Capping and de-capping apparatus and a method of operating such an apparatus
A capping and de-capping apparatus (100) for capping and de-capping tubes (112) disposed in a tube holding rack (111) having a two-dimensional array of apertures (114) for holding the tubes (112). The apparatus (100) comprises a rack support (110) for supporting the tube holding rack (111), a head unit (120) adapted for carrying a cartridge (152) comprising at least one capping and de-capping gripper (122), a drive system (130) for moving the rack support (110) and the head unit (120) relatively towards and away from one another, in order to cause engagement or disengagement of the capping and de-capping gripper (122) with or from a cap (113) of at least one tube (112), and a drive system (140) for rotating the capping and de-capping gripper (122), wherein rotation in one direction causes attachment of the cap (113) to the tube (112) and rotation in the opposite direction causes detachment of the cap (113) from said tube (112).
VEHICLE WEDGE ASSEMBLIES WITH INTEGRATED BOTTLE OPENER FEATURES
This disclosure details vehicle closure member wedge assemblies that include integrated bottle opener features. An exemplary vehicle closure member wedge assembly may include first and second wedge members that are configured to align a closure member relative to a vehicle body during closure member swing. A bottle opener may be integrated into one of the wedge members, thereby adding functionality to the wedge assembly. The bottle opener is conveniently packaged on the vehicle for use during outdoor social gatherings.
CLOSURE OPENER
Disclosed is a closure opener device having a pad-like member made from a flexible material exhibiting a desired coefficient of friction. The body of the device conforms to the user's hand as well as to the closure top of a container. The device has a hand surface that is configured to favorably interface with the skin of the palm and fingers so as to provide friction and making it comfortable to grip. The device has an opposing gripping surface that is used to engage the closure top. The gripping surface is configured to deliver enough friction while opening closure tops made of various materials, having various surface finishes, and having various foreign contaminants disposed thereon. When engaged with a closure top, the thickness of the device's body wraps around the closure top to effectively increase the diameter of the closure top, making manipulation of the closure top easier.
Apparatus for opening safety locked bottle caps
An apparatus for opening safety locked bottle caps is disclosed herein. The apparatus enables users to open safety locked bottle caps in a safe and effective manner. In one embodiment of the invention, the various elements of the inventive apparatus enable a user to remove a bottle cap when sufficient downward force is applied to the handle of the apparatus. In one embodiment, the apparatus is comprised of an engagement mechanism that lodges into the bottom portion of the bottle cap's outer lip. The engagement mechanism is designed to remain lodged within the bottle cap's outer lip through a substantial portion of the opening motion. This feature prevents the inventive apparatus from “slipping-off” from the bottle cap while a user is trying to remove the bottle cap from the bottle.

Pressure equalising piercing device for jars having a screw-top closure
A pressure equalising device (10) which has a squat shape and which has three positions which are a first unlocked and retracted position, a second locked and retracted position, and a third unlocked and extended position wherein the device comprises a spike (14) for piercing a container, a biasing member (12) to bias the device into the first position from the third position, an upper body (20) which supports the spike and which has a locking formation (28), and a lower body (40); wherein the device has a twist lock such that the device can be rotated to and from its first and second positions; wherein the twist lock comprises a slot (52) in the lower body which is positioned to receive the locking formation (28) to immobilise the upper body (20) in relation to the lower body (40); the invention provides an ergonomically acceptable and safe way to reduce the torque force required to open the typical jar to less that 2 Nm by equalising the pressures inside and outside the jar.
