Implantable barrier device
A barrier device is formed of a barrier component that can exhibit anti-inflammatory properties, non-inflammatory properties, and/or adhesion-limiting properties, as well as generate a modulated healing effect on injured tissue. The barrier component can be a non-polymeric cross-linked gel derived at least in part from a fatty acid compound, and may include a therapeutic agent. The barrier device can have anchoring locations to provide an area on the barrier device to interface with an anchoring mechanism. The anchoring locations can include openings and/or anchor elements. The barrier device can also include truss structures that provide additional strength to the barrier component. The barrier device is implantable in a patient for short term or long term applications, and can include controlled release of the therapeutic agent.

The present invention relates to a prosthesis (200) comprising a flexible mesh (1), which is delimited by a peripheral outer edge (1a), and a reinforcing element for said mesh, characterized in that said reinforcing element comprises at least one sheet of semi-rigid and flexible material defining a continuous vaulted structure (201) that has an inner face (201a) and an outer face (201b), at least the base (201d) of said vaulted structure being fixed to the peripheral outer edge of said mesh.

Disclosed herein are a cocoon-based, vascular patch and a method for manufacturing the same. The cocoon-based, vascular patch is manufactured by dividing a cocoon into two or more fragments in a predetermined form, the cocoon having a shell having a predetermined thickness. The cocoon-based vascular patch can be relatively simply manufactured in a more cost efficient manner than conventional vascular patches, and has excellent cell growth potential and biocompatibility.
HERNIA REPAIR GRAFTS HAVING ANTI-ADHESION BARRIERS
Materials for soft tissue repair, and in particular, material for hernia repair. These materials may be configured as an implant, such as a graft, that may be implanted into a patient in need thereof, such as a patient having a hernia or undergoing a hernia repair surgical procedure. These grafts may include a first layer comprising a substrate (e.g., mesh) and a second layer comprising a sheet of anti-adhesive material. The layers may be attached with a plurality of relatively small attachment sites that are separated by regions in which the two layers are not attached, to provide a highly compliant graft.

An implant is disclosed. The implant includes a reinforcement component attached to a sheet component. The sheet component is formed as a porous and fibrous material. The implant is adapted to be implanted on an area of a penis having Peyronie's plaques excised. The implant will elongate during erection of the penis and contract when the penis returns to a flaccid state. The reinforcement component includes a longitudinal rod and a transverse connector, with the longitudinal rod providing column strength to the implant and the sheet component providing support for penile tissue.
