TISSUE AUGMENTATION SCAFFOLDS FOR USE IN SOFT TISSUE FIXATION REPAIR

Devices, systems, and methods to improve both the reliability of soft tissue repair procedures and the speed at which the procedures are completed are provided. The devices and systems include one or more tissue augmentation constructs, which include constructs that are configured to increase a footprint across which suture applied force to tissue when the suture is tied down onto the tissue. The tissue augmentation constructs can be quickly and easily associated with the repair suture, and can be useful in many different tissue repair procedures that are disclosed in the application. Tissue augmentation constructs can include various blocks and scaffolds, among other formations. The present disclosure includes, among other disclosures, methods for using tissue augmentation scaffolds, including folding scaffolds, and descriptions and methods associated with extra-wide tissue augmentation blocks.

Some diversified grafts comprise two or more heterogenous features which form regions having different preferred properties. A diversified graft useful for pre-pectoral breast reconstruction, meshing is provided on an upper pole of the diversified graft and a plurality of slits arranged in particular patterns is provided on a lower pole of the graft, whereby the upper pole has a greater expansion ability and the lower pole has lesser degree of expansion ability but maintains greater load bearing capacity which is necessary to support the lower pole of the breast undergoing reconstruction, while allowing for fluid egress. In other embodiments, the diversified graft comprises two or more components which are combined by attaching them to each other to form a larger graft of the required size. The components may be smaller pieces of the same material or different materials.

A patch is positioned to be displaced by the expandable balloon when the expandable balloon is inflated, and the expandable balloon is displaceably retractable into the shaft and displaceably extendable from the shaft.

The present invention relates to the diagnosis and treatment of joint-related diseases, in particular osteoarthritis. Based on the analysis of the microarchitecture, such as microchannels, of the subchondral bone, the present invention provides methods for evaluating the health state of a joint as well as determining whether a joint is prone to develop or has already developed a disease correlated to joint and cartilage destruction. The invention further provides for membranes and other implants mimicking healthy subchondral bone structure suitable for promoting regeneration of joint structure and function.
