Devices and methods for providing protection from embolisms and microembolisms in a subject undergoing catheter-based intravascular procedures. The embolic protection devices have an expandable support frame comprising U-shaped members and leg members which facilitate proper placements in a defective valve annulus. The filtering devices expand in the vessels and allow blood flow to continue through the vessels, thereby catching and removing debris of the flowing blood. Also disclosed are embolic protection devices for use with a sutureless valve prosthesis which is implanted via catheter-based methods.

Axial lengthening thrombus capture system

In some examples, a capture assembly configured to remove material of interest, including blood clots, from a body region, including but not limited to the circulatory system, includes a body configured to receive the material of interest. The body can be configured to axially lengthen and shorten.

Embolism protection device for introducing into an aortic arch

The invention concerns an embolic protection device for inserting into an aortic arch to prevent embolisms. The invention moreover concerns a handle for such an embolic protection device, as well as a system consisting of said handle and the embolic protection device and a system consisting of a handle, an embolic protection device and a catheter. Through the invention, an embolic protection device for inserting into an aortic arch, comprising a filtering unit and a feeding unit, is provided, wherein the filtering unit comprises a frame and a filter mesh, and the filter mesh is placed on the frame, the filtering unit has a proximal area and a distal area, wherein the filtering unit is designed in such a way that it can, at least partially, be positioned in the aortic arch, and wherein, once the filtering unit is appropriately positioned, haptic feedback is generated, which signals to the user the final position.

System and method for catheterization using an intraluminal electromagnetic working capsule

There is provided a system for cardiac electromagnetic/magnetic catheterization for diagnosing and treating blood vessels of a patient. The system having at least one electromagnetic intraluminal capsule able to force its way through a narrowing blood vessel, the capsule carrying a camera allowing visualization of blood vessels of a patient. There is a portable electromagnetic tip, where the tip pulls the electromagnetic capsule by electromagnetic force, and when the magnetic tip moves along a body of a patient and pulls the intraluminal electromagnetic capsule along with it towards a narrowing blood vessel visualized by the camera, so that the capsule then treats the narrowing site and clears the blood vessel from coronary plaque. In addition working capsule can replace diseased valve in any cardiac position for either temporary or permanent needs.

Selective Stiffening Catheter

A controllable stiffness endoscope overtube includes an overtube shaft including an inner sheath defining an access lumen and an outer sheath surrounding the inner sheath from proximal to distal end of inner sheath to define an annulus therebetween having a proximal portion with a vacuum connection. The sheath distal ends are longitudinally fixed to one another and sized to receive an endoscope. The outer sheath has a constant outer diameter over at least a distal portion of the annulus proximate to the distal ends of the sheaths. A vacuum device is fluidically connected to the vacuum connection and applies vacuum to the annulus. Responsive thereto, annulus pressure is lowered, the sheaths are drawn together, and the overtube shaft is stiffened over at least the distal portion to stiffen and maintain a current shape of the overtube shaft over at least the distal portion of the annulus.

Described here are expandable devices and methods for using them. The devices generally comprise a hub and a plurality of legs extending therefrom. In some variations, the hub may comprise one or more domed portions, tapered portions, or the like. The legs may comprise one or more straight segments, one or more curved segments, or a combination thereof. The devices may comprise one or more polymers, and/or one or more portions of the device may be configured to biodegrade. In other variations, the device may be configured to release one or more drugs therefrom. Additionally, in some variations the devices may be configured to be self-expandable from a low-profile configuration to an expanded configuration.

An interventional catheter for treating an artery includes an elongated body sized and shaped to be transcervically introduced into a common carotid artery at an access location in the neck. The elongated body has an overall length such that the distal most section can be positioned in an intracranial artery and at least a portion of the proximal most section is positioned in the common carotid artery during use.

VASCULAR FILTERS, DEFLECTORS, AND METHODS

Vascular filters and deflectors and methods for filtering bodily fluids. A blood filtering assembly can capture embolic material dislodged or generated during an endovascular procedure to inhibit or prevent the material from entering the cerebral vasculature. A blood deflecting assembly can deflect embolic material dislodged or generated during an endovascular procedure to inhibit or prevent the material from entering the cerebral vasculature.

Spring barb for medical device

Disclosed herein is an anchor for use with a medical device. The anchor includes a coil, a barb, and a turn connecting the coil to the barb. The anchor may be made of a shape memory material. The coil may have a first handedness, and the turn may have a second handedness opposite the first handedness. The anchor may be attached to the medical device by a friction fit, in some cases without being attached by welding, soldering, adhesive, or crimping.
