Upper extremity braces
A brace for restricting the movement of a shoulder joint, the brace including a trunk module attachable to a human body, wherein the trunk module includes a strap for attaching the brace to the body; and at least one first part of a locking mechanism; a forearm module pivotable relative to the trunk module, the forearm module further including a second part of a locking mechanism capable of engaging and disengaging with said first part of the locking mechanism; and a posterior upper arm support attached to the trunk module in a fixed position; wherein in a first orientation the at least one first part of the locking mechanism is engaged with the second part of the locking mechanism; and wherein in a second orientation the at least one first part of the locking mechanism is disengaged from the second part of the locking mechanism.
Versatile orthopedic device
A versatile orthopedic device is arranged to convert between ligament and osteoarthritis treatment, and to accommodate a variety of leg anatomies. The orthopedic device is preferably configured as a double-upright brace indicating struts, frame component sections and associated hinges preferably intended to be along both medial and lateral sides of a wearer's leg. A strap kit with an unloading strap system may be added to the orthopedic device for conversion into an orthopedic device for osteoarthritis relief.
Load bearing assistance apparatus for lower extremity orthotic or prosthetic devices
A load bearing assistance apparatus for transferring load from a lower extremity orthotic or prosthetic device to the ground. The load bearing assistance apparatus includes a lateral and a medial spring-loaded members and a linking mechanism for connecting the load bearing assistance apparatus to the lower extremity orthotic or prosthetic device. The linking mechanism also connects the lateral and medial spring-loaded members in a spaced apart configuration so as to position them adjacent the lateral and medial portions, respectively, of the foot of the user of the lower extremity orthotic or prosthetic device and such that a portion of the lateral and medial spring-loaded members enters in contact with the ground during locomotion.
Unloading knee brace apparatus
An adjustable tension knee brace for unloading weight from a knee joint afflicted with osteoarthritis, thus reducing pain and improving mobility, comprising: an upper and lower rigid posterior portion, anterior straps, and a tension adjustable geared hinge assembly. Four embodiments are disclosed of hinge assemblies useable with the knee brace, or other types of braces. The hinge assemblies comprise: two subunits housing intermeshed gears, and at least one elastic band extending between the hinge subunits over a cam surface above the gears. In three embodiments, U-shaped connectors secure the subunits and gears together, and the subunits may comprise a user mechanism that adjusts the elastic band's tension and thus the amount of weight unloaded, then releases it. Another embodiment comprises a core bracket to protect the band(s) and a mechanism to compress the elastic band at various points to increase the amount of tension, and with a quick release mechanism.
Orthopedic brace to assist with spastic gait
Apparatus for an orthopedic brace with magnetic assistance for assisting with a spastic gait. A pair of braces are configured to each support and secure a magnetic device on each leg above the knee. The magnetic devices generate a magnetic force sufficient to reduce a spastic gait. Each magnetic device has a magnetic field that interacts with a magnetic field of the other magnetic device. The magnetic field produces a magnetic force that repels the other magnetic device as the magnetic devices move relative to each other when the wearer walks. The shape of the magnetic field is configured to aid the wearer in avoiding the legs colliding while walking. In one embodiment discrete magnets are disposed on the medial side of each brace. In another embodiment magnetic material is integral with the medial side of each brace and the magnetic material has a selected field strength curve.

System and methods for adjusting variable geometry, height, weight distribution dynamics in orthotic devices and equipment
An active suspension orthotic support system is disclosed. The suspension orthotic support system comprises at least one variable resistance beam extending from a heel section to a mid-arch section of the footwear, wherein rotation of the variable resistance beam from a first position to a second position causes a resistance provided by the variable resistance beam to vary between a minimum resistance to a maximum resistance.
Inflatable flexion-correcting knee brace
A knee brace with an inflatable air bladder. In a post-surgical embodiment the brace includes a rigid shell that fits behind the knee. The rigid shell includes an inflatable air bladder on its posterior surface. A wrap is placed around the knee and the air bladder. When the air bladder is inflated, the knee is urged in the posterior direction—thereby decreasing flexion. In a rehabilitative embodiment, a rigid shell is placed over the anterior portion of the knee. An air bladder is positioned between the rigid shell and the knee. The rigid shell is held in place using the securing straps of the rehabilitative brace. When the air bladder is inflated the knee is again urged in the posterior direction.
HEALTH BRACE
The present invention is brace including a main body and a strap attached to the main body for adjusting the main body around a body part. The main body and the strap are a unitary body. The brace includes a first zone having a first specific elongation and a second zone having a second specific elongation.
Functional ankle supports with improved movement and comfort
An ankle brace, having a rear-entry ankle cuff adapted to be worn adjacently above lateral and medial malleoli of an ankle, and an open-heel, open-malleoli and open-toe midfoot member extending forwardly and downwardly from the ankle cuff.
