Accessory devices of a medical system, and related methods for communicating leakage state

The present disclosure provides a method, performed in an accessory device, for communicating a leakage state of an ostomy appliance, wherein the accessory device comprises an interface configured to communicate with one or more devices of an ostomy system, the one or more devices comprising a monitor device, and/or the ostomy appliance configured to be placed on a skin surface of a user. The method comprises obtaining monitor data from the one or more devices, the monitor data being indicative of presence of fluid at a proximal side of a first adhesive layer of the ostomy appliance towards the skin surface; determining a leakage state at the proximal side of the first adhesive layer of the ostomy appliance based on the monitor data, and communicating the leakage state of the ostomy appliance via the interface.

20230218426 · 2023-07-13 ·

Examples relate to fluid collection devices, and related systems and methods. In an embodiment, a fluid collection device includes a fluid impermeable barrier, one or more openings, and a port. The fluid impermeable barrier at least partially defines a chamber and includes a proximal end region and a distal end region. The one or more openings are positioned to receive fluid discharged from a user and are in fluid communication with the chamber. The port is positioned at the proximal end region of the fluid impermeable barrier. The fluid collection device is adjustable between a vacuum-based orientation and a gravity-based orientation to withdraw fluid through the port of the fluid collection device.

A semipermanent menstrual pad may include: a genital area cover configured to cover a female genital area and having a storage space recessed at a center of the genital area cover to store menstrual blood, and a lid part configured to cover an upper portion of the storage space to prevent the menstrual blood introduced into the storage space from leaking to the outside, in which the lid part is coupled to or separated from the genital area cover in an attachable/detachable manner and includes a through-hole through which the menstrual blood is introduced, and a first menstrual blood leak prevention projection formed along a boundary line of the through-hole and provided at a position spaced apart from the through-hole by a preset distance to primarily prevent the leak of the menstrual blood.

DOUBLE-SIDED SENSOR DEVICE FOR OSTOMY LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM
20230218423 · 2023-07-13 ·

A sensor device for detecting ostomy effluent leakage in an ostomy appliance includes a sensor layer and a skin barrier layer for attaching the sensor device to a user. The sensor layer includes a substrate, a plurality of sensing electrodes arranged on a proximal side of the substrate, a plurality of connecting traces arranged on a distal side of the substrate, and a plurality of connection points configured to electrically connect the sensor device to a control unit.

MENSTRUAL COLLECTION DEVICE, APPLICATOR AND A METHOD OF INSERTING A MENSTRUAL COLLECTION DEVICE WITH AN APPLICATOR

A menstrual collection device, an applicator and a method of inserting a menstrual collection device within a vaginal canal. The menstrual collection device includes ribs and thin-walled panels or membranes that are recessed from, extend between and are formed integral to the ribs. The ribs and thin-walled panels or membrane allow for the menstrual collection device to hold its shape and collect fluid while still being able to be folded to reduce the surface area of the collection device and fit within the applicator. The applicator tip is flexible such that it allows for menstrual collection device to pass therethrough while still applying a force by to the menstrual collection device to aid in the opening of the collection device to a fully open state.

FLUID REMOVAL DEVICE

The invention comprises a urine removal devices that enable urine discharged from a male patient's penis to be contained within a flexible pouch and drawn out of the pouch and away from the genital region of the patient through a drain tube. The pouch comprises a first fluid compartment, a second fluid compartment and a fluid transmission passageway connecting the first fluid compartment and the second fluid compartment—wherein the fluid transmission passageway comprises a thin-film unidirectional fluid flow valve configured to enable for fluid flow from the first fluid compartment to the second fluid compartment, and to prevent fluid flow from the second fluid compartment to the first fluid compartment. The pouch may have an aperture sized to permit a male patient's penis to enter the pouch within the first fluid compartment.

Drain asembly for elimination of urine waste from an ostomy bag
11701249 · 2023-07-18 · ·

A drain assembly for use with an ostomy bag and an ostomy bag arrangement utilizing a drain assembly to drain urine. The drain assembly includes a connector configured to attach to the ostomy bag. A flexible conduit extends from the connector. A discharge valve is positioned at a distal end of the flexible conduit from the connector. The flexible conduit is of a sufficient length and sufficient flexibility to permit an ostomy bag wearer to position the discharge valve into a discharge position outside of the ostomy bag wearer’s clothing for discharge of urine waste from the ostomy bag.

Urinary Collection System
20230013353 · 2023-01-19 ·

Disclosed herein is a urinary collection system including a urine collection bag and a vacuum chamber coupled to the urine collection bag. The vacuum chamber is positioned in a vertical orientation. A top end of the vacuum chamber includes a drainage inlet and a vacuum port, and a bottom end of the vacuum chamber includes a drainage outlet. An isolation chamber is disposed between the vacuum chamber and urine collection bag, where the isolation chamber is configured to prevent reflux of urine from the urine collection bag into the vacuum chamber. A vacuum tube extends between the vacuum chamber and a vacuum pump. A plunger valve in line with an outlet of vacuum chamber is transitioned to a closed state when a vacuum is applied to the vacuum chamber and transitioned back the open state when the vacuum is removed from the vacuum chamber.

ENDOLUMINAL STOMA DEVICE
20230218424 · 2023-07-13 ·

A colostomy device, which can be referred to as an endoluminal stoma channel, is provided which incorporates a generally cylindrical membrane, with a ring located at either end: an inner luminal ring which is located within the bowel and an outer ring which is rolled over itself to abut against the skin, to which a colostomy bag may be attached. In a corresponding system (stoma discharge control system), the colostomy device (endoluminal stoma channel) is associated with a cover or cap that can facilitate control of discharge from the stoma, and various cover/cap structures are described. Corresponding methods are described.

DEVICE TO DIRECT URINE STREAM
20230008768 · 2023-01-12 ·

A device to direct a urine stream has a circular collapsing sheath with a plurality of collapsible circular components. The circular collapsing sheath has a distal opening and a proximal opening. Each one of the plurality of collapsible circular components has a diameter smaller than the preceding one and the collapsing sheath collapses to a flattened form when subjected to a compressing force. The circular collapsing sheath opens to an expanded form when subjected to an expanding force. The circular collapsing sheath defines a continuous membrane that forms a channel that directs the urine stream into a waste receptacle. The circular collapsing sheath is made from a water soluble material that allows the user to discard the used device. The device is placed in a sanitary sealed package with a tear strip enabling the user to remove and use the device.
