A system comprises a series of passive RFID tag sensors each embedded on top of its own matching antenna inside a flexible substrate. The sensors are driven by a controller-transceiver. The controller-transceiver sends RF signals through an antenna to each RFID tag sensor and receives data transmitted back from the same sensors. Sensors are embedded in a flexible substrate positioned under an unaltered incontinence absorbent pad and juxtaposed to derive further information. Multiple sensors provide sensing of physical-environmental data in addition to moisture. The controller makes intelligent and positive incontinence determinations by relating data to profiles indicative of correlation to incontinence conditions.

This non-provisional patent filing is a follow-on to U.S. Pat. No. 8,421,636 B2 issued Apr. 16, 2013 and is to document the development work done between the original patent filing and continued product research and development. With increased interest in the realm of incontinence wetness sensing in adults and children within a wide variety of conditions, there is always at the core of the sensing, the need for accuracy. Without accurately predicting a wet event, a system rapidly becomes useless and is abandoned. Ongoing development and implementation of incontinence wetness sensing, in a wide variety of venues has identified significant limitations in current incontinence monitoring systems. In theater test and development data has shown that with any incontinence wetness sensing that key measurement parameters vary much more widely than previously predicted. The measurement accuracy of these parameters can significantly affect the reliability of wetness sensing second, third and fourth wet events of an incontinent product. This patent claims the implementation of a wide dynamic range sensing system that utilizes digital variable resistance, capacitance or other measuring technique. This new sensing method, uniquely adapts to the incontinent product environment significantly improving the sensing range and tailored response. The use of these configurable elements allows for modification in real time by microcontroller or other controlling device of the reference in wetness sensing applications enabling this in system dynamic reconfigurable capability.

WEARABLE ABSORBENT ARTICLE

A wearable absorbent article includes a conductor arrangement. Including a plurality of elongate conductors, each conductor extending along an extension direction. At least some of the conductors have different lengths from each other in the respective extension directions. Those of the at least some of the conductors which have larger lengths in the respective extension directions have lower electrical resistances per unit length than those of the at least some of the conductors which have smaller lengths in the respective extension directions.

ABSORBENT BED PADDING DEVICE AND METHOD OF USE

An absorbent bed padding device for reducing incidence of urine induced skin damage and of pressure ulcers includes a pad, which is positionable atop a mattress. The pad comprises a lower layer and an upper layer, which is attached to and which substantially covers an upper face of the lower layer. The lower layer comprises an absorbent and resiliently compressible foam. The upper layer comprises a wicking and resiliently compressible foam, which wicks urine that is excreted by a user into the lower layer to reduce incidence of urine induced skin damage. The upper layer and the lower layer have a combined thickness that is sufficient to reduce pressure upon pressure points of the user's body. Thus, the pad reduces incidence of pressure ulcers.

Female external urinary device and assembly

A female external urinary device useful in managing urine output of a female, such as for surgical use, includes a core having a suction channel and an interior reservoir fluidically communicating with the suction channel, an absorbent layer, and a fabric cover. Desirably, the urinary device includes a moderately absorbent soaker layer disposed inwardly with respect to the core. A urinary device assembly includes the core and a pelvic belt that may be secure to the core and positioned to collect urine from a female patient.
