20230031988 · 2023-02-02 ·

A mandibular advance advancement device generally indicated by the numeral 1. The mandibular advancement device 1 having a first member 2 and a second member 3. The first member 2 is configured to fit substantially over a portion of the teeth of the upper jaw of a user and the second member 3 is configured to fit substantially over a portion of the teeth of the lower jaw of the user. The mandibular advancement device 1 further has an engagement arrangement 4, configured to be engagable upon a forward manipulation of the lower jaw by the user, to maintain the lower jaw of the user in a predetermined protruding position relative to the upper jaw of the user and the natural biting position of the lower jaw.

WEARABLE DEVICE

A wearable device has a flexible and extendable body configured to encircle a portion of a body of a user, an electronics module with a concave space between two ends, each end attachable to the flexible and extendable body with a flexible retention mount to allow rotation of the flexible and extendable body relative to the electronics module and to transfer tension force from the flexible and extendable body to the electronics module, and a bio-signal sensor disposed on the flexible and extendable body to contact at least part of the body of the user and to receive bio-signals from the user.

Breathing assist device

An apparatus for providing breathing assistance includes a body with a recess for receiving teeth of a user to thereby position the body within an oral cavity of the user. A first opening extends beyond lips of a user to allow air from outside the oral cavity to be drawn in through the opening. A second opening is provided in the oral cavity to allow air to be directed into a posterior region of the oral cavity. A channel connects the first and second openings and through at least part of a buccal sulcus of the user.

Method and apparatus for determining and/or predicting sleep and respiratory behaviours for management of airway pressure

Devices, systems and methods are provided for controlling the operation of a breathing assistance device for a user. The controller may include an input for receiving sensor data to measure at least one airflow parameter of the user's airflow; a memory unit that stores at least one machine learning model and at least one classifier or predictor; and a processor that is configured to perform measurements and to generate a control signal for adjusting the operation of the breathing assistance device for a current monitoring time period by: obtaining measured air pressure and/or airflow data and measured FOT data during a current monitoring time period; performing feature extraction on the measured data to obtain feature values that are used by the machine learning model employed by the at least one classifier or predictor to determine a property of the user; and adjusting the control signal based on the determined property.

Mandibular repositioning devices have a mandibular piece having a first teeth covering and having a housing proximate each of a left molar portion and a right molar portion, a protrusive flange extending cranially from each housing, and a maxillary piece having a second teeth covering and having a housing proximate each of a left molar portion and a right molar portion. Each housing encloses a power source electrically connected an on-board circuit board and the housings of the maxillary piece further have the power source electrically connected to a motor operatively connected to a drive for anterior and posterior movements of the mandibular piece. The maxillary piece sits on the mandibular piece with the driver operatively engaged with the protrusive flange. The protrusive flange has a concavely-shaped anterior surface mated to a convexly-shaped head of the driver shaped to match the concavely-shaped anterior surface of the protrusive flange.

DEVICES AND METHODS FOR SLEEP APNEA AND SNORING

A Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD) is disclosed which is useful for the treatment of snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). The improved MAD design comprises upper and lower splints which can be set at an advanced protrusive position (as desired for snoring/OSA therapy), but which also permits some degree of lateral mandibular movement. The amount of protrusive mandibular advancement is adjustable.

Automated method of manufacturing oral appliances

Disclosed herein are methods of manufacturing an oral appliance, the method comprising the steps of: a) importing into a computer aided design (CAD) computer program a digitized data set obtained from a three-dimensional scan of a patient's dentition; b) preparing a three-dimensional electronic model of the patient's dentition; c) subtracting the three-dimensional electronic model of the patient's dentition from an image of a solid block to obtain an appliance data set; and d) manufacturing a dental appliance in accordance with the appliance data set. Also disclosed are devices made by the above method, and methods of treating a condition, for example a sleep breathing disorder, by using a device made by the above method.

Therapeutic oral device for sleep apnea

The present disclosure provides generally for a therapeutic oral device for sleep apnea and associated methods for using the device. According to the present disclosure, the device may comprise a hard palate portion, mouth guard portion, and a tongue retainer portion. The hard palate portion may comprise one or more materials. The hard palate portion may also comprise a composite of materials, including but not limited to embedded materials. The mouth guard portion may comprise one or more components that provide stability and maintain the position of the therapeutic oral device within the mouth. The tongue retainer portion may comprise an airway and a predetermined length. A method of use may comprise the utilization of one or more incremental oral devices to overcome a gag reflex. When the oral device is formed from a mold, the mouth guard portion and the hard palate portion may be custom fit to the dimensions of the intended mouth.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR OPENING AN AIRWAY

A device and a method for creating and/or maintaining an obstruction free upper airway. The device fits under the chin of a subject adjacent to the subject's neck at an external location corresponding approximately with the subject's internal soft tissue associated with the neck's anterior triangle. The device is capable of exerting negative pressure on the surface of a subject's neck, displacing the soft tissue forward and enlarging the airway.
