Nasal breathing training tape and method
11642236 · 2023-05-09 ·

Disclosed is a nasal breathing training tape adapted to impart training to a user to breathe from the nasal, and not from the mouth, during sleep time or wake-up time. The nasal breathing training tape includes a stretchable strip, an adhesive layer, and a cutout portion. The stretchable strip includes a first surface, and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The stretchable strip is stretchable to create tension therein. The adhesive layer may be applied to the second layer of the stretchable strip. The cutout portion is configured on the stretchable strip along a substantially central location of the stretchable strip. The stretchable strip is stretched up to a size to be accommodated and stick around a lip portion, surrounding the mouth but not touching the lip portion, of the user, such that the lip portion held together by the tension created in the stretchable strip.

A medical device control unit is provided. The control unit may include a communications interface, a memory, and at least one processing device. The processing device may be configured to cause application of a control signal to a primary antenna associated with a unit external to a subject's body. The processing device may further be configured to monitor a feedback signal indicative of the subject's breathing and store, in the memory, information associated with the feedback signal. The processing device may also cause transmission of the stored information, via the communications interface, to a location remote from the control unit. The processing device may further be configured to receive an update signal, from the location remote from the control unit, and cause application of an updated control signal to the primary antenna based on the update signal.

MANDIBULAR ADVANCEMENT DEVICE FOR PREVENTING SLEEP APNEA
20230148953 · 2023-05-18 ·

The present disclosure discloses a mandibular advancement device for preventing sleep apnea that moves a mandible forward to prevent sleep apnea. The mandibular advancement device includes: a first hook to which a first end of an elastic member providing a mandible traction force for advancing the mandible can be connected and that supports the elastic member; an upper frame that can be mounted on upper teeth to distribute a traction support force, which is applied to the first hook by the elastic member, to a maxilla; a second hook to which a second end of the elastic member can be connected and that transmits the mandible traction force applied by the elastic member to the mandible at a distal location in comparison to the first hook; and a lower frame that can be mounted on lower teeth under the upper frame to distribute the mandible traction force, which is applied to the second hook, to the mandible.

Obstructive sleep apnea patient programmer for implantable devices

An implantable neurostimulator system including an electrical lead having formed thereon a pair of bipolar electrodes, the electrical lead is configured for placement of the pair of bipolar electrodes proximate protrusor muscles of a patient. The system also includes a pulse generator electrically connected to the electrical lead and configured to deliver electrical energy to the pair of bipolar electrodes, the pulse generator having mounted therein a sensor configured to detect one or more physiological parameters, a memory, a control circuit, and a telemetry circuit. The system also including a communications telemetry module (CTM) in communication with the telemetry circuit and configured to receive a data collected by the sensor and data related to delivery of electrical energy to the bipolar electrodes, and an external programmer in communication with the CTM and configured to display a user interface the data collected by the sensor and data related to delivery of electrical energy to the bipolar electrodes.

Devices for Treating Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Devices for treating obstructive sleep apnea include appliances for securing to one or more teeth of a patient and connected to a lingual bridge configured to change shape and apply pressure to a patient's tongue, preventing backward movement of the tongue and blockage of the patient's airway. The lingual bridge is composed of a shape memory alloy to allow the bridge to change shape once deployed in a patient's oral cavity and exposed to increased temperature in the patient's mouth. Pulse generators and electrodes are included to electrically stimulate the nerves and muscles of the tongue to assist in keeping the tongue from moving backward in the mouth during sleep.
