A system for desalination of salt water, the system including a crude oil refinery or hydrocarbon refinery, the crude oil refinery or hydrocarbon refinery including a furnace operable to produce a hot flue gas. The furnace including a radiant section, a convection section located above the radiant section, a flue gas stack located above the convection section, a heating coil located in a flow path of a flue gas in the flue gas stack such that the flue gas is capable of increasing a temperature of a water stream, thereby converting at least a portion of the water into steam, and a multi effect desalination plant configured for using the steam to produce a desalinated water.
AN APPARATUS SYSTEM AND METHOD TO EXTRACT MINERALS AND METALS FROM WATER
A new apparatus, system and method to purified produced water and removed valuable metals and minerals is described. The apparatus comprises a device for flowing produced water wellbore from a wellbore to the produced water purification apparatus; at least one device to remove heavy metals from the produced water; at least one brine removal device to remove brine from the produced water. The method comprises steps to use the apparatus and the system comprises a control panel that operates the at least one device for removing heavy metals and at least one sensor in a coordinated manner.
Multi-pollutant exhaust treatment using seawater for marine applications
Marine engine exhaust includes pollutants such as CO.sub.2, NO.sub.x and SO.sub.x. An onboard system and method for the simultaneous removal of these pollutants includes obtaining seawater from the water on which the marine vessel travels, purifying the seawater to remove a portion of hard ions, concentrating the seawater to yield a concentrated brine solution, treating the concentrated brine solution with a chemical softener to yield a treated brine solution, acidifying the treated brine solution, and utilizing the acidified brine solution in a chlor-alkali process to yield sodium hydroxide. The sodium hydroxide can be used in an acid gas scrubber to remove CO.sub.2, NO.sub.x, and SO.sub.x from the marine engine exhaust gas.
Natural gas liquid fractionation plant waste heat conversion to simultaneous cooling capacity and potable water using Kalina cycle and modified multi-effect distillation system
Certain implementations of natural gas liquid fractionation plant waste heat conversion to simultaneous cooling capacity and potable water using Kalina Cycle and modified multi-effect distillation system can be implemented as a system. The system includes first waste heat recovery heat exchanger configured to heat a first buffer fluid stream by exchange with a first heat source in a natural gas liquid fractionation plant. The system includes a water desalination system comprising a first train of one or more desalination heat exchangers configured to heat saline by exchange with the heated first buffer fluid stream to generate fresh water and brine.

HIGH-EFFICIENCY DESALINATION
Embodiments of the invention provide systems and methods for heat transfer systems at temperatures in the range of 20 C to 800 C. The systems consist of heat pipes configured such that they fit inside conventional heat exchangers, and more effectively transfer or recover heat from hot fluids, and that operate without user intervention over long periods of time.

An integrated triple cycle system, which includes an organic Rankine cycle (ORC), a refrigeration cycle and an ejector refrigeration cycle, is thermally coupled to the first heating fluid circuit. A MED system, configured to produce potable water, thermally coupled to the second heating fluid circuit. The system includes a control system configured to actuate control valves to selectively thermally couple the heating fluid circuits to portions of the heat sources of the NGL fractionation plant.

The system includes a modified Goswami cycle energy conversion system including one or more first energy conversion system heat exchangers configured to heat a working fluid by exchange with the heated buffer fluid stream, a separator configured to receive the heated working fluid and to output a vapor stream of the working fluid and the liquid stream of the working fluid, a turbine and a generator, wherein the turbine and generator are configured to generate power by expansion of a first portion of the vapor stream of the working fluid, and a cooling subsystem including a cooling element configured to cool a process fluid stream from the natural gas liquid fractionation plant by exchange with a condensed second portion of the vapor stream of the working fluid.

A pumping apparatus for a water treatment plant, the pumping apparatus comprising a gas supply, at least one gas turbine 11 connected to the gas supply, the at least one gas turbine connected to drive at least one primary pump 12 through a reduction gear train 13 and clutch 14, a waste heat boiler 26 having a feed water input, the waste heat boiler having an exhaust gas input 26a to receive exhaust gas from the at least one gas turbine 11 and generate steam from the feed water, the waste heat boiler having an steam output 18, the apparatus further comprising at least one steam turbine 20, the at least one steam turbine connected to drive at least one secondary pump 21, the at least one steam turbine being connected to the steam output 18 of the waste heat boiler, the at least one steam turbine 20 further having an exhaust steam output 27, the apparatus further comprising a condensing apparatus 28 to receive steam from the exhaust steam output and generate a feed water stream at a feed water output, the feed water outlet being connected to the feed water input of the waste heat boiler 26.

Systems and methods for removing solids from a process stream being fed into a flash separator include a solids fluidization device and a solids removal device. The solids fluidization device at the bottom end of the fluid column of the flash separator introduces a swirling motive fluid within the fluid column, while the solids removal device located above the solids fluidization device removes the slurry created by the swirling motive fluid. Systems and methods for fluidizing solids in the fluid column of a flash separator include a solids fluidization device that introduces a swirling motive fluid within the fluid column, means to limit the upward movement of the swirling motive fluid, such as a valve, and removing the solid slurry produced by the swirling motive fluid.
