Apparatus that enables non-penetrating sex between two users. Embodiments may be integrated into or attached to clothing worn by the first user. A tubular element (including, but not limited to, a male or female condom) may be installed either permanently or detachably; attachments at both the open and closed ends of the tubular element ensure that it will not penetrate the first user. Users may therefore enjoy many of the benefits of sex, including intimacy and mutual stimulation, without the risks inherent in penetration. Attachment for the open end may use for example an element that attaches to a base ring or flange at the open end. Illustrative attachments for the closed end include a loop into which the closed end is cinched, a notch or hole into which a button in the closed end is inserted, and a mechanism into which the closed end is inserted, folded, and secured.

A protective barrier system includes a protective barrier assembly having a groin covering panel including an aperture, a securing strap, and fastening members. The groin covering panel is formed of flexible material with leg openings, and is of a size and shape configured to cover a pelvic region of a user-wearer. The securing strap when fastened to the groin covering panel creates the leg openings which are configured to receive legs of the user-wearer and secure the groin covering panel to the user-wearer. The present disclosure relates to compositions and methods for inhibiting inflammation and reducing the risk of spreading sexually transmitted diseases using an alginic acid-based antimicrobial compound. Such compositions provide dual protection by (1) attacking and inactivating viruses and other microbes and (2) blocking the host response that viruses trigger to invade host cells. Such compositions can also be part of an acid buffering contraceptive.

An implant configured to treat prolapse of a pelvic organ includes a support member and an extension portion projecting from the support member. The extension portion has a barbed fixation means provided thereon for anchoring the extension portion into pelvic paravaginal tissue. The barbed fixation means allow bi-directional adjustment of the barbed fixation means relative to the tissue, and when suitably located, the barbed fixation means engage the tissue.
