MULTIPLE PASS, PARALLEL FLOW DOWNCOMER TRAY FOR A MASS TRANSFER COLUMN
A multiple pass, parallel flow downcomer tray for a mass transfer column and method for liquid-vapor contacting in a mass transfer column is provided. The multiple pass, parallel flow downcomer tray has at least four mass transfer decks configured to provide contact between an ascending vapor passing upward through apertures on the tray surface and a traversing liquid on the tray surface. The tray further includes a central downcomers disposed near a central axis of the tray and two or more peripheral downcomers disposed near the edge of the tray and spaced apart from the central axis, wherein at least two of the four mass transfer decks are configured to discharge the traversing liquid into the peripheral downcomers and two of the four mass transfer decks are configured to discharge the traversing liquid into the central downcomer.
Separation method and assembly for process streams in component separation units
A method for removing contaminants from an process stream that includes the use of reticulated material to filter the process stream. The reticulated material also facilitate process stream flow distribution in process units. The reticulated material can be packed with a void space between a substantial number of the reticulated material that can be varied to enhance filtration and flow distribution. The method of filtering also provides a method of removing contaminants leaving process equipment. The methods can be used on a variety of process streams and process equipment. The reticulated material can include ceramics, metallic materials, and chemical vapor deposition elements. The reticulated material can be of various shapes and sizes, and can also be catalytically active.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SEPARATING A FLOW RICH IN CARBON DIOXIDE BY DISTILLATION TO PRODUCE LIQUID CARBON DIOXIDE
An apparatus for the separation of a flow containing carbon dioxide by distillation comprising a heat exchange means, a distillation column, means for sending the flow to be cooled in the heat exchange means down to a first intermediate temperature in order to form a liquid flow at a first temperature and at a first pressure, means for dividing the liquid flow in order to form a first fraction and a second fraction, means for expanding the first fraction to the pressure of a distillation column, means for sending the expanded first fraction to an intermediate level of the distillation column, means for exiting the second fraction from the cold end of the heat exchange means after cooling, means for expanding the cooled second fraction to the pressure of the distillation column, means for sending the second fraction to the distillation column and means for the withdrawal, from the bottom of the column, of a liquid flow.
METHOD FOR INDUSTRIALLY PRODUCING DIALKYL CARBONATE AND DIOL
The method for industrially producing a dialkyl carbonate and a diol, in which the dialkyl carbonate and the diol are continuously produced through a reactive distillation system of taking a cyclic carbonate and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol as starting materials, comprising the steps of: continuously feeding the starting materials into a continuous multi-stage distillation column in which a homogeneous catalyst is present; carrying out reaction and distillation simultaneously in the column; continuously withdrawing a low boiling point reaction mixture containing the produced dialkyl carbonate in a gaseous form from an upper portion of the column; and continuously withdrawing a high boiling point reaction mixture containing the diol in a liquid form from a lower portion of the column, where the method satisfies specific requirements.
