Purification of sulfentrazone herbicide using selective pH adjusted extractions

A high yielding extraction process for the purification of N-(2,4-dichloro-5-(4-(difluoromethyl)-3-methyl-5-oxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)methanesulfonamide (sulfentrazone) by selectively partitioning the desired product from the crude mixture, thereby increasing its purity by decreasing the presence of unwanted impurities and improving the color and particle size distribution of the final sulfentrazone product. The selective partitioning is achieved by the sequential use of an organic solvent, water, aqueous inorganic base and a concentrated aqueous inorganic acid.

PROCESS AND FACILITY FOR RECOVERING METHOXYPROPANOLS FROM AN AQUEOUS STREAM

A process can be used for recovering 1-methoxy-2-propanol and 2-methoxy-1-propanol from an aqueous effluent stream by liquid-liquid-extraction, followed by extractive distillation, distillation of methoxypropanols from the extraction solvent, and distillative separation of the methoxypropanol isomers. Recovered extraction solvent is recycled to the extraction and extractive distillation. Heat transfer from recovered extraction solvent to the extract fed to the extractive distillation reduces energy demand of the process. A facility for this process contains a countercurrent extraction column, an extractive distillation column, a solvent recovery distillation column, an isomer separation distillation column, and a heat exchanger for transferring heat from recovered extraction solvent to the extract fed to the extractive distillation.

ETHYLENE OXIDE PURIFICATION

An improved process for the recovery of high-purity ethylene-oxide water feed streams to EO purification and MEG reaction units when both are operating in EO plants that incorporate EO Stripper bypass technology, by installing a second lights stripper to exclusively degasify the diluted EO feed to the MEG reactor, thus permitting the use of additional bypassed (gasified) EO absorbate as the diluent and resulting in a substantial increase in the total amount of EO absorbate that can bypass the EO Stripper.

Membrane Separation of Used Oil and Compositions Generated

In an embodiment is provided a process to re-refine used oil that includes introducing a used oil and a solvent to a separation unit under separation conditions selected to produce a purified oil product, the separation unit comprising a porous membrane, a semiporous membrane, or both; and separating the used oil to obtain an effluent comprising a purified oil product. In another embodiment is provided an apparatus for re-refining used oil that includes a separation unit comprising a porous or semiporous membrane; a used oil feed coupled to an inlet of the separation unit; and an inlet of a diffusate collection unit coupled to an outlet of the separation unit. In another embodiment is provided a composition generated from a membrane separation process that includes a base oil, the composition having a soot content of about 0.05% or less.

FLEXIBLE PRODUCT SEPARATION AND RECOVERY

This disclosure is related to a process and apparatus for producing and recovering at least one fermentation product from a fermentation process using a C1-containing gas passed to a fermentation bioreactor, that produces a fermentation broth comprising at least one of a first product stream comprising ethanol and water or a second product stream comprising ethanol, acetone, and water or a third product stream comprising ethanol, acetone, isopropanol, and water. The product is recovered by using a shared product recovery system. Particularly, the shared product recovery system selectively recovers at least one enriched product stream selected from an enriched ethanol stream, an enriched acetone stream, an enriched isopropanol stream or combinations thereof. The shared product recovery system includes at least one of a vacuum distillation unit, a rectification unit, an acetone removal unit, a drying unit, an ethanol-acetone separation unit, an extractive distillation unit or combinations thereof.
