Plant and process for separating sulfur-containing components from laden methanol
Plant and process for separation of sulfur-containing components, H.sub.2S, COS and mercaptans from methanol which is used as absorbent within the Rectisol process by hot regeneration of the methanol laden in the absorption and an additional step for separation of the mercaptans from the methanol by stripping.
Water production, filtration and dispensing system
A water production system with a thermal separation device that defines a cold region and a hot region, a fluid-air heat exchanger located remotely from the thermal separation device and exposed to air, and a fluid circulation loop that thermally connects the cold region of the thermal separation device to the fluid-air heat exchanger so as to cool the fluid-air heat exchanger and condense water from ambient air to produce water pure enough so that with further treatment it can be made potable. Also disclosed are filtration and dispensing features that are appropriate for a potable water supply.
PRODUCT MANAGEMENT IN BIOLOGICAL CONVERSION PROCESSES
Improvements in biological conversion processes and associated apparatuses are disclosed for the generation of useful end products such as ethanol, through metabolic pathways of C1-fixing bacteria that utilize, as a nutrient, a C1-carbon source from a C1-containing substrate such as an industrial waste gas. Particular aspects of the disclosure relate to the downstream recovery of ethanol and/or isopropanol from bleed and permeate streams and more particularly to performing such recovery with improved efficiency that can advantageously reduce capital (e.g., equipment) and/or operating (e.g., utility) costs.
SEPARATING METHOD FOR ALTERNATIVE GAS MIXTURES FOR USE AS INSULATING MEDIA
A method is disclosed for recovering a useful gas from a gas mixture including a useful gas and at least one secondary gas. The gas mixture is first compressed and transferred into a pressure vessel where cooling occurs. Then, from the pressure vessel, a secondary-gas containing gas phase is removed and condensed useful gas is transferred into a purification vessel. In the purification vessel, the condensed useful gas is then purified. A plant is disclosed for recovering a useful gas from a gas mixture. Finally, the use of a plant for carrying out a method for recovering a useful gas from a gas mixture is disclosed.
Method and system for recovering and purifying a gaseous sterilizing agent
A system for recovering a sterilization agent may include a pressure reducing valve for reducing a pressure of a waste gas from a sterilization chamber to a first predefined pressure. The waste gas may include a gaseous mixture of a sterilization agent, nitrogen gas, and water vapor. A first condenser may cool the gaseous mixture to below a boiling point temperature and above a freezing point temperature of the water vapor at the first predefined pressure. A first tank may store the condensed water vapor. A separation pump may raise the pressure of the gaseous mixture to a second predefined pressure. A second condenser may cool the gaseous mixture to below a boiling point temperature and above a freezing point temperature of the sterilization agent at the second predefined pressure causing the sterilization agent to condense into a liquid. A second tank may store the separated sterilization agent.
Fully regenerative distillation system for low-cost water desalination
A desalination device includes a sealed desalination chamber with two compartments, an evaporator space that contains saline water, and a condenser space that contains fresh water, a saline water distribution mechanism that directs the saline water into the evaporator space, a vapor compressor that directs a stream of pressurized freshwater vapor into the condenser space, and an integrated regenerative boundary between the evaporator space and the condenser space that has two sides, an evaporation surface and a condensation surface, enabling the pressurized freshwater vapor to condense on the condensation surface to generate freshwater, and where the latent heat of the condensation process transfers across the integrated regenerative boundary into the evaporator space and evaporates a portion of the saline water to produce freshwater vapor.
Process for separating hydrocarbons in a liquid feed utilizing an externally heated reboiler connected to a divided wall column as the primary source of heat energy
The present invention is directed to a system and process for fractionating a hydrocarbon liquid feed using a single dividing wall column (DWC), an externally heated reboiler connected to the DWC, and a deisobutanizer (DIB) integrated with a compressor. The majority of all externally supplied heat energy supplied to the system is input to the system via the externally heated reboiler of the DWC.
Multi-stage compression and component removal
A gas compression system includes a system inlet to receive a gas stream containing a first component and a second component, a vapor system outlet to discharge the gas stream, and a plurality of compression stages coupled in series between the system inlet and the vapor system outlet. Each of the plurality of compression stages includes a compressor, a condenser coupled to the compressor, and a gravity-independent phase separator coupled to the condenser. The compressor is configured to receive the gas stream from either the system inlet or another of the plurality of compression stages and compress the gas stream. The condenser is configured to condense the second component from the gas stream. The gravity-independent phase separator is configured to remove the second component from the gas stream and discharge the gas stream to either the system outlet or another of the plurality of compression stages.
