PROCESS AND SYSTEM FOR HEAT INTEGRATION IN ETHANOL PRODUCTION

The present disclosure provides processes and systems for heat integration in ethanol production. In one embodiment, a feed mixture is distilled with one or more distillation units to remove at least a portion of the water, and form a distillation unit bottom stream, a vaporous overhead stream, and a fusel oil stream. Molecular sieve units are regenerated by vacuum or a combination of vacuum and optionally a portion of the product stream to form one or more regenerate streams. A feed tank is configured to receive at least one selected from a condensed portion of the regenerate streams and a portion of a vaporous depressure stream, to form a feed stream. The energy contained in the depressure vapor is recovered by the depressure vapor contacting the feed tank and heating up at least one stream forwarded into the feed tank.

An apparatus, system, and method for the extraction of water molecules from the air includes a combination of electrical mechanisms and materials engineering. With the help of hydrophobic and hydrophilic materials on an array of thermally conductive and electrically insulated materials, the extraction of water from the air is significantly increased. A combination of hydrophobic and hydrophilic materials and an electric field gradient moves the water molecules towards the collection system thus speeding up the water formation process. This also inhibits the re evaporation of the water droplets.

Methods and facilities for thermal distillation with mechanical vapour compression

The invention provides several innovations relative to MVC thermal distillation methods and facilities in order to decrease their specific electricity consumption to values of only 2 to 4 kWh/m3 of distillate produced, as well as their manufacturing costs. The vapour transport system is reduced to its simplest expression and has a practically null total dynamic pressure loss. The compression system including the compressor motor) is completely integrated into the evaporator-condenser, installed in the inlet of the condensation zones, preferably provided with a system preventing overheating of the vapour, and driven at a high speed of rotation. Preferably, the auxiliary equipment is installed in the enclosure in a partial vacuum (hermetic chamber). According to one particular embodiment, the condensation zones have a section that decreases with the path of the vapour. The exchangers on the incoming and outgoing flows are supplied with continuously balanced heat loads. Heat losses are offset by auxiliary heating. Preferably, the facility can be made using a modular concept.

HEAT EXCHANGER WITH MULTISTAGED COOLING

Embodiments described herein relate to a heat exchanger for abating compounds produced in semiconductor processes. When hot effluent flows into the heat exchanger, a coolant can be flowed to walls of a fluid heat exchanging surface within the heat exchanger. The heat exchanging surface can include a plurality of channel regions which creates a multi stage cross flow path for the hot effluent to flow down the heat exchanger. This flow path forces the hot effluent to hit the cold walls of the fluid heat exchanging surface, significantly cooling the effluent and preventing it from flowing directly into the vacuum pumps and causing heat damage. Embodiments described herein also relate to methods of forming a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger can be created by sequentially depositing layers of thermally conductive material on surfaces using 3-D printing, creating a much smaller footprint and reducing costs.

Ultra-compact, scalable, direct-contact vapor condensers using acoustic actuation

The disclosed technology includes techniques for improving efficiency of heat transfer devices, specifically condensers. An exemplary embodiment provides a device for condensing vapor bubbles comprising a quantity of liquid, a vapor source, and an acoustic transducer. The vapor source can be configured to introduce a plurality of vapor bubbles in the quantity of liquid. The acoustic transducer can be configured to provide acoustic energy to the quantity of liquid such that at least a portion of the acoustic energy is transferred to the plurality of vapor bubbles causing at least a portion of the plurality of vapor bubbles to condense in the quantity of liquid.

LOW PRESSURE VAPOUR OF POLAR FLUID CONDENSER BASED ON LIQUEFACTION IN RUNNING NON-POLAR LIQUID
20200025421 · 2020-01-23 ·

The present disclosure provides a method of collecting, including condensing, vapour of a polar fluid inside a liquid that is subjected to continuous flow in a process system, the liquid having a low vapour pressure (i.e. non-volatile) and being a non-polar liquid. The collection of the vapour, by condensation, occurs via four transition steps: (1) vapour (e.g. vapour of water) transferring sensible heat to the liquid (e.g. oil), (2) bubbles containing vapour collapse and become water in hot oil, (3) dissolved vapour liquefies through heat removal at elevated temperatures, and (4) oil and water are separated due to the difference in polarity between the polar fluid and the non-volatile non-polar liquid. The present method converts low grade (i.e. low temperature) waste heat into high grade heat source suitable for efficient heat rejection or heat recovery applications. An apparatus for collecting vapour of a polar fluid in a non-volatile non-polar liquid is also provided.
