Systems and methods for temperature-contrast therapy
In one example embodiment, a system for stimulating tissue with the application of temperature-regulated fluid and negative pressure comprises a negative-pressure source adapted to provide negative pressure to a dressing. The system may further comprise a thermoelectric module thermally coupled to a first heat exchange chamber and a second heat exchange chamber and adapted to transfer heat between said heat exchange chambers. The thermoelectric module can be further adapted to maintain a temperature-regulated fluid fluidly coupled to the first heat exchange chamber and the dressing within a predetermined temperature range by adding heat to and extracting heat from the temperature-regulated fluid as it passes through the first heat exchange chamber.
Thermal treatment devices
A temperature management device for warming or cooling a person's body includes a device body, which has a fluid conduit for flowing fluid through the device body. The device body includes a contact surface to face and contact the person's body on which the device body is applied and is configured to conform to the person's body wherein the contact surface contacts the person's body and follows a surface topography of the person's body, and further provides a thermally conductive surface for transmitting thermal energy from the fluid flowing through the fluid conduit to the person's body.
Fluid delivery line and connection system for targeted temperature management system
A fluid delivery line (FDL) for use in transporting a targeted temperature management (TTM) fluid between a TTM module and a thermal contact pad is disclosed. The FDL can include a bi-luminal fluid conduit and a bi-luminal proximal FDL connector. The two lumens of the proximal connector can be concentrically arranged. An authentication tag attached to the FDL can provide authentication data to a TTM module. A TTM system can include a connection adapter added to an existing TTM module where the adapter includes the electro-mechanical valves. An adapter controller operates the valves in accordance with obtained authentication data from the tag. Fluid connection systems can include valves that automatically open and close upon connection and disconnection. Fluid conduits and connectors can include concentrically arranged fluid lumens.
Medical Pad And System For Thermotherapy
An improved medical pad for contact thermal exchange with a patient includes a fluid circulation layer for containing a thermal exchange fluid circulatable therethrough, a first port and a second port for circulating the thermal exchange fluid in to and out of the fluid circulation layer, and a hydrogel layer interconnected to and extending across one side of the fluid circulation layer to define an adhesive surface for adherence to a patient's skin. The hydrogel layer can include an ultraviolet light-cured composition with a cross-linking copolymer, water, and glycerol. The hydrogel layer is provided to have a thermal conductivity of at least about 1.9 ca//hr-cm-° C.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR HEAT OR COLD THERAPY AND COMPRESSION THERAPY
A medical device providing a combination of thermal and DVT therapies to a patient. The components, arrangement of components, function of the device as a whole, and methods of use of the device are all devised to maximize therapeutic effectiveness. Effectiveness in this context is measured by the ability to provide a controlled application of the recommended thermal treatment including time, temperature, compression, and number of cycles with specified cycle duration.
Foot Cooler
A therapeutic sleeve and techniques for using it are provided. A therapeutic sleeve may house a conduit carrying a constant stream of a chilled or heated working fluid throughout the sleeve. A heating element may evenly distribute heat throughout the sleeve. The sleeve may provide a precise temperature-controlled pocket that significantly improves treatment of pain or discomfort in the user's feet, head, or other body parts. A software application may enable a user to set or adjust a temperature, set timers, record sleep patterns, and view analytics or other data.
APPARATUS FOR THERMAL THERAPY TREATMENT OF A SELECTED REGION OF THE BODY OF A HUMAN OR OF AN ANIMAL AND METHOD OF OPERATING SAID APPARATUS
The invention relates to a device for use in the thermal therapy treatment of a selected region of the body of a human or of an animal, in particular for use in the treatment of tissue damage after surgical interventions, of injuries, of inflammations and of chronic diseases of the rheumatic type, and in particular for assisting chemotherapeutic treatments, comprising a temperature control device which is provided in order to control a temperature of a temperature control fluid, and a heat transfer device which is arranged to transfer heat to the selected region of the body, wherein the temperature control device is connected, in a fluid conducting manner, to the heat transfer device, and is further arranged to temper the heat transfer device with a heat transferring temperature control fluid flowing through the heat transfer device, and with a control device which is connected to the temperature control device and to the heat transfer device, wherein the control device is arranged to control the temperature control device, in order to cause the heat transfer device to be at least partially at an approximately uniform temperature in the region of a contact surface between the heat transfer device and the selected region of the body to be temperature controlled. The invention further relates to a method of operating the device.
Methods and apparatus for adjusting blood circulation
Embodiments of the invention include a method and a device for increasing blood flow and controlling the temperature of a mammal by applying a desired pressure to extremities of a mammal. The device generally includes a pliant body element that is adapted to receive a portion of an extremity of the mammal therein, and then apply a pressure to a portion of the extremity when a pressure is provided to a region in which the extremity is positioned within the pliant body element. By evacuating the region in which the extremity is enclosed, a contact surface area between the extremity of a mammal and the pliant body element is increased, due to the external atmospheric pressure acting on the pliant body element against the skin of the extremity of the mammal. The application of pressure assures that sufficient contact and thermal heat transfer (heating or cooling) is provided to the extremity of the mammal.
