An apparatus for extraction and recovery of components from biomass feedstocks with pressurized low polarity water. The apparatus is configured with four or more reaction columns, wherein each column is in separate communication with a supply of hot water, a first supply of pressurized heated water, a second supply of pressurized heated water, and a supply of pressurized cooling water. Components may be extracted concurrently from two or more batches of the biomass by, first placing the two batches of biomass into two selected columns, separately flooding the two columns with pressurized water, heating the columns and their contents to the point where the water becomes pressurized low polarity (PLP) water, recovering the PLP water comprising the extracted components from the two selected columns, cooling the columns with PLP water, and removing the spent biomass material from the columns.

The industrial production of an extract by means of solid-liquid extraction improves the exchange of substances during extraction and allows enhanced dehumidification of a raffinate with residual moisture.

The extraction is enhanced during a first dwell time by at least partially flooding a vessel in the form of at least one flow discharged with a secondary solvent or the obtained extract, swirling and keeping in suspension the primary mixture within the vessel by supplying the secondary solvent or the obtained extract via a foot area of the vessel, and/or moving the vessel relative to the extraction container within the obtained extract.

The secondary solvent or the extract circulates in the extraction container by a circulation guide incorporating the extraction container from top to bottom relative to the extraction container, and the extract freed from raffinate with residual moisture obtained by dehumidification is supplied to the separated or to be separated extract.

A removable material basket is positioned on top of the flow funnel in an upper section. The removable material basket is configured to hold a material inside the removable material basket. A drain and inlet port is at a bottom of the kettle in communication with the sealed interior of the kettle. A recirculation port is approximate a top of the kettle in communication with the sealed interior of the kettle. Wherein, when the fluid mixture is inserted into the kettle, the recirculating high pressure lipid extractor is configured to pressurize and heat the fluid mixture and recirculate the pressurized and heated fluid mixture from the recirculation port into the drain and inlet port.
