A body temperature detection and control system, including a temperature sensing module configured to sense a body temperature, a processing module configured to determine whether the sensed body temperature is outside of a predetermined temperature range, and a response module configured to, if the sensed body temperature is determined to be outside of a predetermined temperature range, provide at least one of a notification and a remedial measure.

FLUID-BASED THERMAL CLOTHING FOR HEAT EXCHANGE WITH BODY PARTS
20170105870 · 2017-04-20 ·

A method and an article of manufacture are disclosed for exchanging heat with a human body part to reduce fever, reduce localized swelling, warm up feet, cool down the body, increase body core temperature, and the like. A double walled water-tight article of clothing, such as a boot or a glove, may include a fluid inlet and outlet. A single walled but water-tight article of clothing may be used around a body part and allow the water to contact the skin inside the article of clothing for more rapid and direct heat exchange. Pumps, heating or cooling elements, thermometers or other devices may be included with the article of clothing. The article of clothing may be compartmentalized to concentrate the fluid around a particular body part. The fluid may continuously enter through an inlet and exit from an outlet in the article of clothing, or be a fixed amount.

Wound cleansing apparatus

An apparatus for cleansing and promoting tissue growth in wounds, in which irrigant fluid optionally containing cell nutrients and/or other physiologically active material from a reservoir connected to a conformable wound dressing and wound exudate from the dressing are recirculated by a device for moving fluid through a flow path which passes through the dressing, a biodegradable scaffold in contact with the wound bed and a means for fluid cleansing and back to the dressing. The apparatus has means for supplying thermal energy to the fluid in the wound. The cleansing means (which may be a single-phase, e.g. micro-filtration, system or a two-phase, e.g. dialytic system) removes materials deleterious to wound healing, and the cleansed fluid, still containing materials that are beneficial in promoting wound healing, is returned to the wound bed. The dressing and a method of treatment using the apparatus.

METHODS AND APPARATUSES FOR TREATMENT OF MEIBOMIAN GLAND DYSFUNCTION

Apparatus and methods for treating dry eye include an energy source configured to apply energy to an obstruction located in a meibomian gland of a patient's eyelid. The apparatus also comprises an insulator configured to be positioned between a rear portion of the patient's eyelid and a surface of the patient's eyeball. An inner surface of the insulator has a curvature greater than that of the patient's eyeball such that an air pocket is formed between the inner surface of the insulator and the patient's eyeball, wherein the air pocket provides additional insulation to reduce or eliminate an amount of heat due to the applied energy from the energy source from being conducted to the surface of the patient's eyeball, such that the applied energy does not cause the temperature to reach a temperature sufficient to cause damage to a corneal or scleral portion of the patient's eyeball.

Patient warming system with monitoring and feedback capability

Aspects of the present disclosure provide for a patient warming system having a heating device configured to transfer heat to a patient based on a body heat score that indicates whether the patient is likely to sweat. The heating device includes a heater circuit configured to produce heat, the heater circuit thermally coupled to the patient. The heating device also includes a controller communicatively coupled to the heater circuit. The controller has one or more processors configured to receive one or more physiological indicators of the patient, determine the body heat score from one or more physiological indicators, determine whether the body heat score meets a score threshold, direct the heater circuit to produce a first amount of heat based on whether the body heat score meets a score threshold.

Systems and methods for directing fluid flow in a mattress

A system for directing fluid flow in a mattress is disclosed. The mattress comprises a base support layer which is configured to spatially locate at least one insert support layer. The insert layer comprises a conduit to allow fluid flow.

Cold therapy systems and methods

A cold therapy system including a cooling bath; a therapy pad in fluid communication with the cooling bath; a pump positioned and arranged to pump water from the cooling bath to the therapy pad and back to the cooling bath; and a control unit controlling the pump, the control unit programmed to operate the pump according to a cycle in which the pump is operated at less than maximum to cause the therapy pad temperature to be raised and to conserve a cooling resource within the cooling bath.

FLUID INFUSION SYSTEM

A fluid infusion system includes an air pump connected to an accumulator tank to produce pressurized air that is stored in the accumulator tank. The system can include one or more fluid bag chambers wherein each fluid bag chamber includes an inflatable bladder positioned inside the fluid bag chamber to apply pressure on the fluid bag supported inside the chamber. The fluid bag can be connected by a tube set to deliver fluid from the fluid bag to a surgical tool at a surgical site. The fluid can, for example, be irrigation fluid or distention fluid. The system can include a controller connected to the pump to control the pump to produce the pressurized air and an adjustable pressure regulator can be connected between the accumulator tank and the inflatable bladder to control the pressure of air delivered to the inflatable bladder and the pressure that the fluid is delivered to the surgical tool. A pressure sensor can be connected between the adjustable pressure regulator and the inflatable bladder to measure the air pressure delivered to the inflatable bladder and send the air pressure measurements to the controller. The controller can configure the system display to show the air pressure measured by the pressure sensor.

Devices configured to monitor biological parameters, and to provide treatment, at an Abreu brain thermal tunnel

Devices for therapeutic interaction with an Abreu brain thermal tunnel (ABTT) terminus. Such devices provide heat to or remove heat from the ABTT terminus, and may also provide heat to or remove heat from veins connected to the ABTT. Therapeutic devices for engaging with the ABTT terminus benefit from diagnostics obtained at the ABTT terminus, or from other locations on the body.
