Method for decontaminating soil and the like and system for decontaminating soil and the like
An object to be decontaminated contaminated with radioactive material is introduced into an acid eluting solvent to dissolve the radioactive material. The radioactive material dissolved is concentrated and separated from the eluting solvent in the present method. The object to be decontaminated comprises contaminated soil and contaminated liquid. One or both of the contaminated soil and the contaminated liquid are collected and introduced into the eluting solvent. The radioactive materials and the object to be decontaminated dissolved in the eluting solvent are separated into solid and liquid. The decontaminated soil separated from the eluting solvent is collected. The eluting solvent used for separating the radioactive material and in which radioactive material is dissolved is concentrated.
Process for the extraction of silica
Disclosed is a process for the extraction of silica from lignocellulosic plant matter, including the steps of: a) fractionating the lignocellulosic plant matter in the presence of an acid solution, so as to obtain a solid fraction including cellulose; b) extracting the silica from the solid fraction obtained in step a) with a basic solution, at a pH between 10 and 13 and at a temperature between 70° C. and 90° C., so as to obtain a liquid phase including silica and a solid phase; c) separating the liquid phase and of the solid phase which are obtained in step b); and d) precipitating the silica which is included in the liquid phase, at a pH between 5 and 6.
Apparatus and method for plant extraction
An apparatus and a method for plant extraction are disclosed. The apparatus of the present invention comprises an extraction module, a separating module and a reservoir. The method essentially includes plant material preparing, decarboxylating, active components extracting and separating. By using liquid tetrafluoroethane as the solvent in the apparatus of the present invention, the active components of the plant material are efficiently extracted under low pressure extraction and high pressure extraction conditions.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR EXTRACTING ESSENTIAL OILS
A system and method of extracting essential oils from plant material through the use of a low pressure alcohol-based closed system that includes a solvent chamber connected to a material column that in turn is connected to a recovery chamber. Plant material in the material column and the solvent in the solvent chamber are cooled using a cooling liquid, such as nitrogen. A vacuum pump connected to the recovery chamber creates a vacuum in the recovery chamber to draw the cooled solvent through the cooled plant material and extract essential oils, which are collected in the recovery chamber.
Methods of purifying cannabinoids, compositions and kits thereof
The present specification discloses methods of purifying one or more cannabinoids from a plant material, purified cannabinoids and pharmaceutical compositions comprising one or more cannabinoids produced by the disclosed method, methods and uses for treating a disease or condition employing such purified cannabinoids and pharmaceutical compositions.
Process to remove asphaltene from heavy oil by solvent
Embodiments of the disclosure produce a method and system for deasphalting a hydrocarbon feed. The hydrocarbon feed and a first solvent is combined using a Taylor-Couette mixer to form a mixed stream. The mixed stream and a second solvent are introduced to an extractor to produce a first deasphalted oil stream and a pitch stream. The first deasphalted oil stream is introduced to a solvent recovery unit to recover the first solvent and the second solvent via a recovered solvent stream and to produce a second deasphalted oil stream.
STRONG AND TOUGH STRUCTURAL WOOD MATERIALS, AND METHODS FOR FABRICATING AND USE THEREOF
A super strong and tough densified wood structure is formed by subjecting a cellulose-based natural wood material to a chemical treatment that partially removes lignin therefrom. The treated wood retains lumina of the natural wood, with cellulose nanofibers of cell walls being aligned. The treated wood is then pressed in a direction crossing the direction in which the lumina extend, such that the lumina collapse and any residual fluid within the wood is removed. As a result, the cell walls become entangled and hydrogen bonds are formed between adjacent cellulose nanofibers, thereby improving the strength and toughness of the wood among other mechanical properties. By further modifying, manipulating, or machining the densified wood, it can be adapted to various applications.
METHOD OF SELECTIVE EXTRACTION OF PLATINOIDS, FROM A SUPPORT CONTAINING SAME, WITH AN EXTRACTION MEDIUM CONSISTING OF A SUPERCRITICAL FLUID AND AN ORGANIC LIGAND
Method of selective extraction of a metal of the family of platinoids, from a ceramic support containing said metal, comprising the following successive steps: a) said ceramic support containing said metal is brought into contact, in an extraction chamber, with an extraction medium consisting of a pressurized dense fluid containing an organic ligand that is selective for the metal and that is capable of forming a complex with said metal in the 0 state; whereby are obtained, on the one hand, a ceramic support depleted in said metal, or even free of said metal, and, on the other hand, a medium consisting of the pressurized dense fluid containing the complex of the organic ligand with the metal in the 0 state; b) said pressurized dense fluid containing the complex of the organic ligand with the metal in the 0 state is brought back to atmospheric pressure and to ambient temperature, whereby the complex of the organic ligand with the metal in the 0 state separates from the fluid; c) the ceramic support depleted in said metal, or even free of said metal, and the complex of the organic ligand with the metal in the 0 state, are recovered.
EXTRACTION OF CANNABINOIDS, FLAVONOIDS AND TERPENES FROM CANNABIS
The present invention relates to a process for preparing an extract from Cannabis comprising an extraction step of treating the Cannabis with carbon dioxide at a temperature of between 0° C. to 15° C. and a pressure between 1250 psi and 1600 psi to obtain an extract; and centrifuging the extract between 20° C. to 40° C.
