SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TREATING WATER
A system adapted to condition an initial water feed stream including a water treatment subsystem, wherein the water treatment subsystem includes a first oxygen removal unit including a membrane filter, wherein the initial water feed stream flows through the membrane filter and the first oxygen removal unit is adapted to treat the initial water feed stream to remove a first portion of the dissolved oxygen to form a first deoxygenated water stream, a hydrazine stream dissolved into the first deoxygenated water stream, a second oxygen removal unit including a vessel filled with a palladium-doped resin, wherein the second oxygen removal unit is adapted to treat the first deoxygenated water stream including the hydrazine stream dissolved therein to catalytically remove a second portion of the dissolved oxygen to form a second deoxygenated water stream, and an oxygen scavenger feeder adapted to blend a chemical scavenger and the second deoxygenated water stream.
HYDROPHILIC/OLEOPHOBIC SPONGE, PREPARATION METHOD AND USE THEREOF
The present invention provides a hydrophilic/oleophobic sponge, a preparation method and use thereof, and belongs to the technical field of functional material preparation. In the present invention, a modified solution is obtained by mixing a nanoparticle suspension with a modifier solution; the nanoparticle suspension includes silica-encapsulated Fe.sub.3O.sub.4 nanoparticle suspension and/or nano-silica ethanol suspension; the modifier solution includes chitosan-acetic acid aqueous solution and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) aqueous solution. The sponge is soaked in the modified solution, mixed and crosslinked with glutaraldehyde aqueous solution to obtain the hydrophilic/oleophobic sponge, conferring good oil-water separation ability on the sponge. The sponge effectively separates a heavy water layer from oil-water mixtures with such light oils as lubricating oil, engine oil, pump oil, crude oil, gasoline, and sunflower seed oil in a simple gravity-driven manner. The hydrophilic/oleophobic sponge prepared by the present invention has good application prospects in oil-water separation.
Composite for oil-water separation, synthesis methods and applications of same
Certain aspects of the invention relate to a method of synthesizing a composite usably for oil-water separation comprising surface nanostructuring a pristine powder or porous material to form a nanostructured powder or porous material having surfaces with nanoscale features; and coating single or multilayers of one or more low surface energy oligomers, polymers, or their composites with other materials on the surfaces of the nanostructured powder or porous material.
METHOD FOR REMOVING OIL IN CLEANING LIQUID
A method for removing oil in cleaning liquid, by which fine oil in cleaning liquid can be removed efficiently with a filter element for a general-purpose filter element for separating foreign substance. As a plurality of annular protrusions 22d are formed on an outer circumferential surface 22a of the filter element 22 along substantially whole length of the filter element 22 in axis line direction thereof, innumerable small eddies 40 are created in annular grooves 22e between the neighboring annular protrusions 22d. Such eddies 40 are created by Coanda effect in a situation where cleaning liquid having viscosity flows along the annular protrusions 22e. As such eddies 40 are of a negative pressure, fine oil 41 lighter than water is separated from water and captured by filament of the lipophilic filter element 22.
Purification of oil
A method and a system for purification of oil, said method comprising the steps of: -providing separation aid and oil to be purified to at least one sedimentation tank; -waiting for allowing a sludge phase to sediment to a bottom part of the sedimentation tank, said sludge phase comprising the separation aid together with impurities from the oil; -removing an oil phase not comprising said sludge phase from the at least one sedimentation tank; and -filtering said oil phase through a depth filter for removing any possible remaining separation aid and impurities.
Method for producing a water separator, and water separator
In a method for producing a water separator, a support structure surrounding annularly a longitudinal axis and a hydrophobic screen fabric are provided. By ultrasound or by laser radiation, a material of the support structure is plastified in regions that are radially outward at the support structure in relation to the longitudinal axis to generate plastified regions. The hydrophobic screen fabric is arranged at an outer circumferential side at the support structure and the hydrophobic screen fabric is pressed into the plastified regions. A water separator is provided that has a support structure surrounding annularly a longitudinal axis and a hydrophobic screen fabric of a material that is transparent for a laser radiation. The hydrophobic screen fabric is arranged at an outer circumferential side at the support structure and has sections embedded in radially outwardly positioned regions of the support structure.
CONTAINMENT AND REMOVAL SYSTEM FOR DRAG AND DREGS IN A DECANTER USED IN THE SOLVENT EXTRACTION PROCESS
Containment and removal system for drag and sludge that constitutes a barrier to contain drag from aqueous to organic and from organic to aqueous, which can be used in a settler (settler) for solvent extraction processes, being designed to filter sludge, generate the sedimentation of aqueous droplets in organic and/or organic droplets in aqueous, and/or favor the coalescence of aqueous droplets from the organic phase, avoiding contamination due to the presence of drag and sludge.
Filter housing with filter key attachment
A filter assembly for fluid filtration having a push-activated lock and release mechanism. A push filter design activates a filter key lock upon insertion and extraction, where the filter key may be used simultaneously as a lock and as an identifier for particular filter attributes. The filter housing assembly may be attached to, and removed from, a filter base by a push-actuated release. Upon insertion, the filter key shifts the filter lock longitudinally to receive interlocking segments. Upon extraction, the same axial push shifts the filter lock further to align the interlocking fingers within gaps that allow for easy extraction. The specific key lock design allows a user to identify and match certain filter configurations received by the mechanical support, and reject other filter configurations.
