METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TREATING POTABLE WATER IN MUNICIPAL AND SIMILAR WATER TANKS

Method and apparatus for treating potable water in municipal and similar tanks to reduce and remove undesirable disinfectant byproducts such as trihalomethanes from the water by providing a water circulation system to create circulation patterns in the tank water and an air flow system for creating an air flow pattern in the headspace region of the enclosed tank above the water surface. In operation, a portion of the tank water is drawn-up a draft tube from the tank floor to above the water surface and sprayed through a nozzle outwardly about a vertical axis and slightly downwardly toward the surface of remaining tank water. The air flow system creates and directs a high volume of air through the tank above the water surface to volatize undesirable trihalomethanes in the drawn-up water portion to gaseous state to enter the air flow pattern and exit the tank into ambient air.

A wash separator comprises a vessel containing a first fluid and a second fluid whereby the second fluid has a different density from the first fluid. The first fluid (3) is immiscible with the second fluid and the first and second fluids are separated from each other by an interface. A feed stream comprising a dispersion of the first and second fluid wherein the second fluid forms a disperse phase in the form of droplets is distributed within the first fluid in the vessel forming a continuous phase. A distribution element is provided in the vessel to distribute the feed stream into the second fluid. The feed stream after having been discharged from the distribution element has a retention time of at most 15 minutes in the feed second fluid in the vessel.

DEGASSING SYSTEM FOR DIALYSIS

The invention relates to a degassing vessel and related systems and methods that can remove certain gases such as carbon dioxide from a dialysis system with minimal foaming inside the degassing vessel. The invention further relates to mechanical systems and methods for degassing a dialysate or any fluid used for, during or resulting from dialysis.

Dual stage degasser

Devices, systems, and methods for high capacity degassing of dissolved gases and gas bubbles from fluid such as a dialysate are provided. The devices, systems, and methods can include a degassing vessel with at least two degassing chambers. The fluid can be degassed in a first degassing chamber and recirculated through a second recirculating degassing chamber to remove a desired amount of gas such as carbon dioxide.

AIR-OIL SEPARATION APPARATUS

The described air-oil separation apparatus for an oil system of a gas turbine engine includes an oil tank having an oil impingement surface disposed on a tank bottom proximate an oil tank outlet and a centrifugal air-oil separator mounted within the oil tank. The centrifugal air-oil separator has an oil outlet that feeds an impingement nozzle having an outlet oriented, in operation, to eject an oil jet from the centrifugal air-oil separator to impinge the oil impingement surface at an intersection point spaced apart from the oil tank outlet.

METHODS FOR IN SITU SEPARATION OF MIXTURES

The present invention provides a method for the separation of a mixture having a first component and a second component, the method comprising the steps of: (a) applying at least two destabilizing energy forms to the mixture to destabilize the mixture, wherein the destabilizing energy forms are chosen from the list comprising: mechanical shear force, thermal energy, and/or surface energy; and (b) applying at least one enriching energy form to the mixture to form a first region that is enriched in a first component relative to the second component and a second region that is enriched in the second component relative to the first component, wherein the enriching energy form is surface energy.

DEHYDROGENATION TANK AND BALLAST WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM HAVING SAME

The present invention provides a dehydrogenation tank. An atomization spray is disposed at the center of the upper part of the dehydrogenation tank, and, flow stirring modules used for stirring a flowing solution are respectively disposed at the middle and the bottom of the dehydrogenation tank. Each of the two flow stirring modules includes at least two layers of flow stirring meshes. By means of disposing the atomizing spray and the flow stirring modules in the dehydrogenation tank, the TRO solution flowing into the dehydrogenation tank are fully stirred, so that hydrogen gas mixed with the TRO solution is able to diffuse out fully and rapidly, thereby increasing dehydrogenation efficiency as well as reducing volume of the dehydrogenation tank. In addition, the present invention also provides a ballast water treatment system having the dehydrogenation tank.
