APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR TREATING SLURRIES
There is provided a material treatment apparatus. The material treatment apparatus includes a first compartment. The first compartment includes an inlet for receiving supply of slurry material, and a first material conduction space for conducting flow of the supplied slurry material in a downwardly direction. A second compartment is also provided including a second material conduction space for receiving a first intermediate material of the supplied slurry material and conducting the first intermediate material in an upwardly direction. A baffle is provided for interfering with conducting of the supplied slurry material from the first material conduction space to the second material conduction space. A turbulent flow mitigation device is disposed within the first compartment and configured to, upon interaction with the supplied slurry material, to effect adjustment to the flow characteristics of the supplied slurry material to generate a downwardly flowing flow characteristic-adjusted slurry material, wherein the flow characteristics of the supplied slurry material are transformed from turbulent flow to laminar flow. The turbulent flow mitigation device is disposed, relative to the baffle, such that the baffle directs the downwardly flowing flow characteristic-adjusted slurry material to a space below the first baffle. The first material conducting space is fluidly coupled, below the baffle, to the second material conduction space, such that the first intermediate material fraction of the downwardly flowing flow characteristic-adjusted slurry material is conducted to the second material conduction space from below the baffle. A collection region is disposed below the first and second compartments for collecting a separated solids-comprising fraction that has separated, by gravity settling, from the supplied slurry material.
System and method for separation of suspended solids from waste fluid
A separation system for the removal of suspended solids from raw fluid. Raw fluid is placed in a non-pressurized settling tank and allowed to partially settle before injection into a pressurized clarification vessel. Following a dwell period clarified fluid is discharged at the top of the clarification vessel and settled waste is removed at the bottom thereof. Constant vessel pressure is maintained during injection of raw fluid or the discharge of clarified fluid or settled waste. The system is simpler to manufacture and more efficacious in its use than prior art methods.
Water treatment system
Provided is a water treatment system that prevents overlook and misdetection of abnormal flocculation. The water treatment system includes a mix tank, a flocculation tank, a plurality of floc-particle-diameter measurement devices, a fault detection device that detects abnormal flocculation, and a notification device that notifies occurrence of the abnormal flocculation. The fault detection device includes: a calculator that calculates at least one of a difference and a ratio between particle diameters of floc; a storage that stores therein a tolerable range of at least one of the difference and the ratio between the particle diameters of floc; a determiner that, when the calculated value is within the tolerable range, determines that it is normal, and when the calculated value is outside the tolerable range, determines that it is abnormal; and an outputter that transmits an abnormal flocculation detection signal to the notification device.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CLEANING WATER ACCRUING FROM DRILLING IN THE GROUND
Device (200) for cleaning grey water containing particulate material, comprising a container (201) in turn comprising a water entry (202); a slurry exit (204); a cleansed water exit (203); and a sedimentation volume (220). The invention is characterised in that the container further comprises a flocculant provision means, arranged to add a flocculant (212) to grey water entering via the water entry, so that grey water having entered said sedimentation volume after such adding contains said flocculant, in that the flocculant provision means comprises a vertical chute (213) arranged to convey, via gravity, said grey water from an upper part of said container to be released via an open lower end (215) of the chute into said sedimentation volume at a height of at the most 1 m above a bottom (221) of said sedimentation volume, the chute having a cross-sectional area of at least 0.1 m2. The invention also relates to a method.
