The spill lip (12b) is configured to be arranged below an air-liquid interface (20) during operation such that there is a depth of submergence (26) between the spill lip (12b) and the air-liquid interface (20).

A system includes a sparger and a gas supply for paint sludge separation in a tank containing a mixture of paint and liquid. The tank has an open upper end for moving paint sludge out of the tank. The sparger includes a gas inlet tube fluidically connected to an enclosure hood, the inlet tube projecting downwardly into the tank to a tube outlet. The enclosure hood has a closed upper end that radially encloses the tube outlet and extends downwardly to an open lower end to define an interior volume between the upper and lower ends. The lower end defines a peripheral rim with a diameter greater than a diameter of the enclosure hood at the closed upper end. The gas supply feeds the gas inlet tube of the sparger, and has a pressure that forms a gas pocket within the interior volume of the enclosure hood that extends from the tube outlet to the peripheral rim such that portions of the gas pocket pass over the peripheral rim and form gas bubbles which rise through the mixture towards the open upper end of the tank.

Optimized recycling of drilling fluids by coordinating operation of separation units

One system embodiment includes: an inlet sensor that measures a fluid quality of an input fluid stream; an arrangement of separation units operating to extract contaminants from the fluid stream; and a user interface (UI). Each separation unit produces a respective output fluid stream, exhibiting a performance that is impacted by a respective operating parameter, and has an outlet sensor that measures an output fluid stream quality. The UI receives fluid quality measurements from the inlet and the outlet sensors, responsively derives a performance value for each separation unit and an overall performance value for the arrangement, and displays each of the performance values. The UI may further set the operating parameter values to automate and optimize the operation of the arrangement for different drilling conditions. The fluid quality measurements may indicate contaminant concentrations, and the performance values may account for separation efficiency, energy consumption, reliability, and next service date.

Continuous dewatering recirculation system with integral coal combustion residual high flow plate separator

The system for a continuous dewatering recirculating for removing particulate such as coal combustion residue from a water stream. The system includes multiple dewatering and recirculation containers, each having a submerged flight conveyor and lamella settlings plate located therein, at least one dewatering and recirculation container receives ash water stream overflow.

APPARATUS WITH IMPROVED GRIT REMOVAL

A grit removal system with an annular grit removal chamber and a central hopper beneath the chamber bottom, including an opening through the chamber bottom to the hopper. Influent and effluent channels direct wastewater with grit into and out of the grit removal chamber. A plate over the chamber bottom opening has a first portion with a plurality of first openings therethrough and a second plate portion with a plurality of second openings therethrough, wherein the flow velocity for a given flow rate through the first openings is greater than the flow velocity for the given flow rate through the second openings.

Density phase separation device

A mechanical separator for separating a fluid sample into first and second phases within a collection container is disclosed. The mechanical separator may have a separator body having a through-hole defined therein, with the through-hole adapted for allowing fluid to pass therethrough. The separator body includes a float, having a first density, and a ballast, having a second density greater than the first density. A portion of the float is connected to a portion of the ballast. Optionally, the float may include a first extended tab adjacent a first opening of the through-hole and a second extended tab adjacent the second opening of the through-hole. In certain configurations, the separator body also includes an extended tab band disposed about an outer surface of the float. The separator body may also include an engagement band circumferentially disposed about at least a portion of the separator body.

A separation tank for crude oil. Fluid enters an inlet section of a center column of the tank via an offset inlet pipe so the fluid enters swirling. Solids that settle in the inlet section are removed by a center column drain and a solids removal system. Free gas rises and exits from the top of the tank. Liquid flows out of the center column via a diffuser that spirals the fluid evenly toward the wall of the tank where oil coalesces and wicks upward. Liquid flows downward around two flow diverting baffles where more oil coalesces and wicks upward via an oil conduit into the oil layer. The water flows under the lower flow diverting baffle and exits the tank through the outlet section. A large circular oil collector weir uniformly removes oil from the oil layer. Interface draw offs located below the oil-water interface remove excess BS&W.
