SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PURIFYING DEPLETED BRINE
A system and method for removing impurities to reconstitute a NaCl stream to a saturated solution salt solution and remove any impurities such as sodium bisulfite (NaHSO.sub.3), sodium chlorate (NaClO.sub.3) and sodium iodide (NaI) to improve brine quality from an electrolytic cell is disclosed, including an evaporation system connected to the electrolytic cell, a brine treatment system connected to the evaporation system and the electrolytic cell. A waste treatment system is connected to the evaporation system. The evaporation system includes a set of evaporators that concentrates the brine. Sodium chloride is precipitated from the set of evaporators to the brine treatment system. Impurities are precipitated from the set of evaporators. The brine treatment system includes a hydrocyclone and a centrifuge that separates sodium chloride from water. The sodium chloride is mixed with water to create a concentrated and purified brine.
Centrifuge
Centrifuges are useful to, among other things, remove red blood cells from whole blood and retain platelets and other factors in a reduced volume of plasma. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) and or platelet poor plasma (PPP) can be obtained rapidly and is ready for immediate injection into the host. Embodiments may include valves, operated manually or automatically, to open ports that discharge the excess red blood cells and the excess plasma into separate receivers while retaining the platelets and other factors in the centrifuge chamber. High speeds used allow simple and small embodiments to be used at the patient's side during surgical procedures. The embodiments can also be used for the separation of liquids or slurries in other fields such as, for example, the separation of pigments or lubricants.
CLOSED LOOP EXTRACTION SYSTEM
A closed loop extraction system for extracting desired components from raw plant matter and method of use is disclosed. The closed loop extraction system features a solvent source, a chill tank, a wash tank, a rinse tank, a centrifuge, and a feed tank all in fluid communication via a series of interconnected pump systems. The method of extracting the desired products from raw plant matter uses this system to perform the extraction with a reduced amount of solvent in an energy-efficient manner.
Density phase separation device
A mechanical separator for separating a fluid sample into first and second phases within a collection container is disclosed. The mechanical separator may have a separator body having a through-hole defined therein, with the through-hole adapted for allowing fluid to pass therethrough. The separator body includes a float, having a first density, and a ballast, having a second density greater than the first density. A portion of the float is connected to a portion of the ballast. Optionally, the float may include a first extended tab adjacent a first opening of the through-hole and a second extended tab adjacent the second opening of the through-hole. In certain configurations, the separator body also includes an extended tab band disposed about an outer surface of the float. The separator body may also include an engagement band circumferentially disposed about at least a portion of the separator body.
Method and system for removing insoluble solids mid-evaporation from a corn dry milling process
The present invention relates generally to corn dry-milling, and more specifically, to a method and system for removing insoluble solids mid-evaporation in a corn (or similar carbohydrate-containing grain) dry milling process for making alcohol, such as ethanol, and/or other biofuels/biochemicals. In one example, the method for removing residual insoluble solids in a grain dry milling process includes separating a whole stillage byproduct into an insoluble solids portion and a solubles portion, which includes residual insoluble solids. Then, the solubles portion is subjected to a first evaporation, via one or more evaporators, to remove liquid from the solubles portion to define a concentrated solubles portion. After the first evaporation, the residual insoluble solids are separated from the concentrated solubles portion. And thereafter, the concentrated solubles portion is subjected to a second evaporation, via one or more evaporators, to remove additional liquid from the concentrated solubles portion.
Purification and drying of graphene oxide
Provided herein are graphene materials, fabrication processes, and devices with improved performance and a high throughput. In some embodiments, the present disclosure provides graphene oxide (GO) materials and methods for forming GO materials. Such methods for forming GO materials avoid the shortcomings of current forming methods, to facilitate facile, high-throughput production of GO materials.
Agricultural sampling system and related methods
A coulter assembly for collecting soil samples from an agricultural field in one embodiment comprises an annular collection blade configured for penetrating soil to capture a sample, an annular cam ring configured for stationary mounting to a frame of an agricultural vehicle and comprising a cam track, a blade hub coupled to the blade for rotatably supporting the annular collection blade from the annular cam ring, and a movable sample collector mounted to the annular collection blade. The moveable sample collector is configured and operable for extracting a soil sample as the annular collection blade is rotated through the soil. The moveable sample collector in one embodiment comprises a piston mechanism including a cylinder and rod movably disposed therein which actuated by the annular cam ring to alternatingly open and close a collection end of the cylinder as the annular collection blade rotates through the soil.
SEPARATOR INSERT, SEPARATOR AND METHOD FOR EXCHANGING A SEPARATOR INSERT
A separator includes a frame and a separator insert exchangeably disposed on the frame. The separator insert is designed to separate a flowable suspension into at least two flowable phases of different density in a centrifugal field and forms a preassembled, exchangeable unit for inserting into stator units on the frame of the separator. Mutually spaced holders having stator units of the bearing devices are formed on the frame, between which holders the housing of the separator insert is non-rotatably retained such that the rotor with the drum remains rotatable. The relative position of the holders can be changed such that the separator insert can be exchanged. The housing and the holders have corresponding interlocking elements in order to non-rotatably retain the housing at the holders.
METHOD FOR SEPARATING PHA AND PHA PREPARED THEREFROM
Provided a method for separating PHA and PHA prepared therefrom. The method comprises the following steps: subjecting a PHA fermentation broth to solid-liquid separation to obtain a thallus precipitate; breaking cell walls of the thallus precipitate, and subjecting obtained wall-broken products to a plate and frame filtration to obtain PHA; a filter cloth for the plate and frame filtration is pre-coated with a PHA layer. The method adopts a plate and frame separation to replace the traditional centrifugal separation to prepare PHA, and the PHA layer is pre-coated on the filter cloth for the plate and frame filtration, thereby overcome the defects in the prior art such as high cost and operational difficulty caused by adopting multiple centrifugal separations; in addition, the method of the present disclosure also exhibits the advantages of high recovery rate of PHA and high purity of the prepared PHA product.
