The first separation device receives a water/sediment/oil mixture and from a subsea surface and separates the mixture into a first component containing cleaned sediment and a second component containing a water/oil mixture. The spreader apparatus disperses the cleaned sediment of the first component into a subsea environment of the spreader apparatus. The second separation device receives the second component from the first separation device and separates the second component into a cleaned water component and an oil component. The second separation device disperses the cleaned water component into a subsea environment of the second separation device and provides the oil component to the storage device. The first separation device may include a plurality of hydrocyclone devices, and the second separation device may include a high pressure hydrocyclone device.
CYLINDRICAL FILTER SCREEN WITH TENSIONING MECHANISM
A filter assembly including a filter screen (27) comprising a band (27′) of porous material extending between two axially aligned opposing ends (38, 38′) and defining a cylindrical periphery (29), wherein the ends (38, 38′) are each secured to a dynamic tensioning mechanism (46) that permits the ends (38, 38′) to move bi-directionally relative to one another about the periphery (29) of the filter screen (27).
PROCESS AND SYSTEM FOR IMPROVED RECLAMATION OF MINED LANDS
A process and associated system for the improved reclamation of disturbed lands (e.g., mined lands) is disclosed. In particular, the system including a dewatering cyclone, a screw classifier, and a dewatering apparatus (e.g. a dewatering belt) arranged in series to enable rapid and cost effective dewatering of slurries containing dilute clay and sand tailings to create an improved engineered reclamation material (ERM). The ERM formed by the controlled combining of dewatered sand tailings with dilute clay slurry and with a flocculant and overburden. The ratio of clay:sand:overburden of the ERM may be achieved by balancing the solid content (Cw) and water content (1-Cw) materials of the clay slurry, sand tailings and overburden. In some embodiments, the system may include at least one additional component, such as, for example, static screen(s), centrifuge(s), vibrating screens, drum screens, belt screens, belt filters, and/or other liquid-solid separation devices.
Low gravity solids reducing processes, systems and methods, and solids reducing processes, systems and methods for drilling fluids, using collision forces within a pressure drop chamber
A process and device to create access to low gravity solids (LGS) of about 2 to 20 microns for removal from a fluid material/LGS emulsion having the steps of: flowing the emulsion into high pressure tubing; separating the emulsion into at least two high pressure streams; forcing the emulsion through high pressure nozzles at a terminus of each of the at least two high pressure tubing streams at a speed in the range of about 10 ft/sec to 200 ft/sec or at a force in a range of about 10 to 100 PSI; and colliding the streams of emulsion exiting the high pressure nozzle within a pressure drop chamber, wherein the pressure drop is in a range of about 5% to 50% of the back pressure of the nozzles; wherein a cavitation effect is realized from a collision force of the high pressure streams within the pressure drop chamber.
Apparatus and method for optimizing hydro-cyclone separation in a filtering system
An apparatus and method for optimizing hydro-cyclone separation in a filtering system is disclosed. The apparatus includes a first, second and third storage tanks, a pump, a motor, a variable speed drive, and a hydro-cyclone. The pump pulls fluid from the third storage tank and routes it to the hydro-cyclone where particles are separated out. The filtered fluid is then routed onto a mechanism, such as a car wash, where the clean fluid is utilized. Since the car wash cannot always use all of the filtered fluid, a controller monitor flow rate and fluid pressure, and operates a proportional fluid control valve to bypass some or all of the fluid routed to the car wash and redirect it back to the second storage tank. This process allows the hydro-cyclone to operate at maximum efficiency while flow to the carwash may vary. The dirty particles separated out by the hydro-cyclone are routed to the first storage tank.
SINGLE CELL PROTEIN PROCESS AND PRODUCT
This disclosure describes methods to separate solids from liquids in a production facility. A process separates components in the process stream by applying non-condensable media to create density differences and then using a mechanical device to separate the solids from the liquids based on the density difference. The process produces the liquids and solids, which may be further processed to create valuable animal feed products.
METHOD FOR PURIFYING EASILY POLYMERIZABLE SUBSTANCE
A method for purifying an easily polymerizable substance efficiently to improve the troublesome matters when cleaning, e.g., reducing the number of times the metal mesh is cleaned. The method for purifying an easily polymerizable substance of the present invention comprises a step of introducing a crude liquid containing the easily polymerizable substance into a distillation column, and a first separation step of introducing a bottoms liquid extracted from a collection part of the distillation column into a wet cyclone, to separate a first purified liquid containing the easily polymerizable substance from a liquid containing an insoluble solid.
MAGNETIC FILTER FOR A CENTRAL HEATING SYSTEM
A magnetic filter 10 includes first and second separation chambers 10, 12. The separation chambers 10, 12 each have an inlet and an outlet, and the separation chambers 10, 12 are joined together such that the inlets of the first and second chambers are adjacent, and the outlets of the first and second chambers are adjacent. An inlet port arrangement 28 connects both inlets to a single inlet pipe, and an outlet port arrangement 30 connects both outlets to a single outlet pipe.
Fluid separation systems and methods
A system including a vessel with at least two fluid inlets and a fluid outlet wherein one fluid inlet is positioned higher in the vessel than the other fluid inlet is provided. The fluid inlets may be connected to a polymerization reactor and each fluid inlet may be configured to deliver fluid to the vessel from a different zone of the polymerization reactor. During shut-down of a polymerization reactor, reaction mixture is discharged to a separation system where polymer particles are removed from the mixture prior to being released into the atmosphere.
