FRACTIONATOR ANNULAR DRAIN APPARATUS AND METHOD

A tank system may be conventional and fixed, or mobile, such as a fracking fluid or other tank trailer. A drain port thereof is fitted with an adapter connecting a snorkel system to drain liquids from near the top of the liquid level in the tank. A snorkel head at the extreme distal end of a tube near the longitudinal center of the tank is suspended by a system of buoys. A flow field controller plate resists formation of vortices near the snorkel head, so it can operate as near the surface as possible, withdrawing the highest grade oil efficiently. At its exit, the proximal end of the tube drains oil through an inner conduit of an adapter at a penetration in the wall of the tank. The adapter forms an annulus around the inner conduit draining tank bottoms directly from the tank.

Storm water catch basin hazardous liquid valve
09605422 · 2017-03-28 · ·

A storm water catch basin hazardous liquid valve that is automatically responsive to the presence of hazardous liquids in storm water run-off, the valve utilizing a hydrophobic barrier member to separate hazardous liquids from water. Collection of a sufficient amount of hazardous liquids across the hydrophobic barrier member initiates a float release member to seal off the catch basin. In the neutral or non-activated status, the storm water run-off enters the catch basin, passes through the valve assembly and out through the storm water conduit system in normal manner. When a hazardous liquid, such as oil, gasoline, chemicals, etc., is present in the storm water run-off above a threshold amount, the valve activates to close off the catch basin such that the storm water run-off is precluded from entering the storm water conduit system.

RECOVERING A HYDROCARBON FLUID

Techniques for recovering a hydrocarbon fluid from a waste fluid include transmitting a plurality of wave energy pulses through a waste fluid, the waste fluid including a mixture of a hydrocarbon fluid and a non-hydrocarbon fluid; receiving a plurality of reflected wave energy pulses transmitted through the waste fluid; determining a level difference between a surface of a hydrocarbon fluid layer that includes the hydrocarbon fluid and a surface of a non-hydrocarbon fluid layer that includes a non-hydrocarbon fluid based, at least in part, on the plurality of reflected wave energy pulses; and operating a hydrocarbon fluid pumping assembly, based on the determined level difference, to circulate a portion of the hydrocarbon fluid in the hydrocarbon fluid layer from the waste fluid.

Settler with a settler plate that includes a hollow support

The present disclosure relates to settler plates for a plate settler. The settler plates generally include a hollow support with a hollow interior to receive clarified liquid from a flow channel between adjacent settler plates. An orifice is formed through the hollow support to direct clarified liquid from the flow channel into the hollow interior. The orifice can be positioned such that clarified liquid can flow upwardly out of the flow channel and downwardly through the orifice into the hollow interior. The hollow support can be integrally formed with the settler plate. For example, the hollow support can be formed by bending a tab extending from an end of the settler plate. The tab can be bent into a hollow support with a cross section that is generally polygonal.

System for removal of contaminants in water
09580336 · 2017-02-28 ·

An apparatus for removal of contaminants from water includes an openable enclosure with one or more inlet openings through the sides for admitting water and debris into the enclosure. Intake modules attached to the outer surface of the enclosure draw water from the enclosure through an intake conduit and out an upper port in the side of the intake module. A pump module adjacent to the intake module has a side port corresponding to the upper port of the intake module so that water is drawn by a pump from the intake module and exhausted through an outlet channel of the pump module. A snorkel attached to the pump module with its lower end located adjacent to the pump propeller draws air down into the snorkel and into a fitting disposed below the pump propeller for injection into the enclosure.

Flow control methods and devices

A method for delaying the maximum rate of discharge of water from a stormwater retention basin includes varying the vertical distance of an intake opening from the waterline inversely with water depth. A flow control device for carrying out the method includes an intake pipe with an intake opening that is pivotally mounted to a float body, the pivot being spaced from the intake opening.

Liquid Solid Separator
20170043280 · 2017-02-16 ·

A liquid solids separator includes a liquid receiving tank, a cascade tank, and a settling tank fluidically connected in series. Wastewater is recycled through the tanks beginning with the liquid receiving tank and contacted with hot gas in the cascade tank to concentrate the wastewater and remove solids that settle in the settling tank.

Method and apparatus for separating a material

A separation system for separating a multiple component material into at least two fractions. The separation system includes a separation device having a first end, a second end opposite to the first end, and a sidewall that extends between the first end and the second end to define a separation chamber having an interior volume. The system also includes a valve moveable between an open position and a closed position, the valve is mounted at a fixed location within the separation chamber at a position that is closer to the second end than to the first end and is spaced apart from the second end, the valve is operable to isolate a first fraction of the multiple component material having a first density on a first side of the valve from a second fraction having a second density on a second side of the valve that is opposite to the first side.

FLUID REMOVAL DEVICE

An apparatus that may include base section further comprising one or more tubulars and a siphon formed from the one or more tubulars. The apparatus may further include a swivel section fluidly connected to the base section and further comprising an orifice plate and a floating section fluidly connected to the swivel section in which a fluid may enter.
