A water filtration device includes a diffusiophoretic water filter having an inlet and an outlet and for receiving a colloidal suspension at the inlet and flowing the colloidal suspension between the inlet and the outlet in a flow direction; a diffusiophoretic-inducing membrane; a cover, the membrane and the cover defining a plurality of channels extending between the inlet and the outlet; an outlet splitter for the plurality of channels being fixed with respect to the membrane or the cover, the cover and membrane being flexible and configured to permit rolling up of the membrane and the cover. A related method is also provided.

Method and apparatus for filtration of polluted liquid in a single upright filtration tank, comprising feeding of fresh filter material via a fresh filter material inlet in a lower part of the filtration tank, feeding of polluted liquid via a liquid inlet in an upper part of the filtration tank, mixing of the filter material and the polluted liquid in the single upright filtration tank to filter the polluted liquid by conveying filter material from the lower part of the filtration tank to the upper part of the filtration tank, and discharge of used filter material through an upper used filter material outlet in the upper part of the filtration tank, and discharge of clean liquid from the filtration tank through a lower clean liquid outlet in the lower part of the filtration tank.

APPARATUS FOR REMOVING IMPURITIES FROM WATER OR WASTEWATER AND A METHOD OF INSTALLING A FLUID DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM THEREIN
An apparatus for removing impurities from water and/or wastewater and a method of installing a fluid distribution system in the apparatus. In the most preferred form of the invention, the fluid distribution system is an air scour system for directing air through the filter bed to assist in cleaning of the filter bed to remove impurities trapped in the filter bed during a service run. In the most preferred form, the method of installing the fluid distribution system in the filter bed is performed by imparting a force to the filter bed to permit the fluid distribution system to be installed in the filter bed without removing media. The fluid distribution system is preferably configured to permit the fluid distribution system to be readily installed in the filter bed and at an optimum orientation.

A diffusiophoretic water filtration device includes a diffusiophoretic flow chamber having an inlet and an outlet, the flow chamber for receiving the colloidal suspension at the inlet from the inlet manifold, and passing the colloidal suspension between the inlet and at least one outlet in a flow direction; the flow chamber having a removable and reassemblable cover defining a boundary of the diffusiophoretic flow chamber.
