CHEMICAL ABLATION FORMULATIONS AND METHODS OF TREATMENTS FOR VARIOUS DISEASES
Embodiments of the present invention are directed to the treatment of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, heart failure, end-stage renal disease, digestive disease, urological disease, cancers, tumors, pains, asthma, pulmonary arterial hypertension, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease by delivering of an effective amount of formulations at desired temperature to target tissue. The formulations include gases, vapors, liquids, solutions, emulsions and suspensions of one or more ingredients. The temperature may enhance safety and efficacy of the formulations for the treatments. The amounts of the formulation and/or energy are effective to injury or damage the tissues to have a benefit of symptom relive.
Systems and Methods for Providing a Cooling Compression Apparatus for Post-Surgery Recovery
The present invention includes a garment with an attached inflatable bladder that is designed to be adjacent to the patient's breasts during use for post-surgery recovery. The inflatable bladder has an inlet tube and an outlet tube that connects to a pumping apparatus to supply cold fluid to the inflatable bladder for cooling therapy. The inflatable bladder may include a tortuous water passageway through a first breast section, a second breast section, and a sternum section such that the cool water continues to be recycled through the inflatable bladder without sitting and becoming warm. The garment includes a set of adjustable shoulder straps and a set of adjustable chest straps, which enable the patient to adjust the tightness of the breast cooling and compression apparatus without raising her arms above her head. The present invention also includes a face mask with an inflatable bladder that has an inlet and outlet tube that connects to a pumping apparatus to supply cooling therapy. The inflatable bladder of the face mask includes a tortuous water passageway to recycle the cold water.
Underbody warming systems
Apparatus and methods related to an underbody support for supporting a body of a being, such as during surgery to prevent contact pressure injuries. In certain embodiments, the underbody support may include one or more inflatable chambers enclosing a volume. At least one of the inflatable chambers may include one or more compression sensitive switches for monitoring the volume of the inflatable chamber, and the one or more compression sensitive switches may be located within the inflatable chamber. In some embodiments the one or more compression sensitive switches are sized to close when the said inflatable chamber is deflated to a desired residual volume.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR THERMAL AND COMPRESSION THERAPY RELATIVE TO THE PREVENTION OF DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS
A DVT and temperature therapy system. A temperature therapy blanket includes a fluid bladder for delivering hot and/or cold therapy to a patient. The temperature therapy blanket may also include an air bladder for providing compression. The DVT system functions independently of the temperature therapy. This Abstract is provided to comply with rules requiring an Abstract that allows a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain subject matter of the technical disclosure. This Abstract is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims. 37 CPR 1.72(b).
THERAPEUTIC SLEEVE
A therapeutic sleeve includes a compression sleeve having an inner sheet and an outer sheet made of flexible fluid impervious material sealingly fixed together to form at least one air pocket therebetween. An inlet valve is fluidly connected to the at least one air pocket to fill the air pocket with air via a pump. The present invention further includes a liner including a sheet having an outer surface and an inner surface. At least one pocket is coupled to the outer surface. A first connector couples the inner surface of the liner to the inner sheet of the compression sleeve. A second connector is configured to removably couple the compression sleeve to itself when wrapped around a limb of an animal.
Apparatus for providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation and application aid
An apparatus (1) for providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation by applying compressions to a chest of a patient (P). The apparatus (1) comprising a chest compression unit (10), in particular comprising automatic actuation, at least one band (20) to be passed around the patient's chest for maintaining the chest compression unit (10) in position on the patient's chest. At least one end of the band (20) is releasably connectable to the unit (10) or another band. The apparatus (1) is designed for pushing the band (20) underneath the patient's chest, in particular on the side where the patient contacts the ground (G). The apparatus (1) comprises or is connectable to an application aid (30), in functional connection with the band (20), fixable to or movable relative to the band and adapted to support pushing the band (20) underneath the patient's chest. The application aid is stiffer than the band.
Articles to manipulate the temperature of body extremities
Temperature of the extremities is a significant factor in temperature control of the body due to the presence of thermal receptors in the extremities. The brain uses signals from these thermal receptors as an indication of environmental conditions, and responds accordingly. Thermal monitoring of extremities and adjustment of extremity temperature are valuable in controlling body temperature, leading to a more optimum body temperature in an array of environmental conditions. Devices, such as a wearable article, and an apparatus to monitor the temperature of extremities, adjust the temperature of the extremities in response to the monitored temperature.
FORCED AIR WARMING UNIT CONNECTION PORT CONTROLLER
A method of manipulating a quick connect/disconnect system includes connecting a first coupling portion of a first connecting member to a fluid conductor and inserting a second coupling portion of the first connecting member within a third coupling portion of a second connecting member. The method further includes inserting the third coupling portion within a ring assembly which is rotatably coupled to the first coupling portion and engaging a mating feature on an external surface of the third coupling portion with a mating feature on an internal surface of the ring assembly. The method also includes rotating the ring assembly about the third coupling portion while the first mating portion is engaged with the second mating portion; and forcing the second coupling portion to move further within the third coupling portion by rotation of the ring assembly.
BLANKET, IN PARTICULAR A SUPPORT FOR CONTROLLING THE TEMPERATURE OF LIVING BEINGS
A blanket, in particular a support for controlling the temperature of living beings, includes an upper layer to faces a living being, in particular a patient or injured being; a lower layer opposite the upper layer; a resilient and air-permeable intermediate layer situated between the upper layer and the lower layer; and an air inlet opening, having a connection for supplying air, in particular warm air, into the region of the intermediate layer. An air outlet opening is provided in an edge region of the blanket remote from the air inlet opening, and at least the greater part of the air supplied via the air inlet opening(s) exits the blanket through the air outlet opening(s). The upper layer is fluid-permeable and the lower layer is substantially airtight and substantially fluid-tight, preferably in the form of plastics film or a coated textile sheet.
IN VIVO TEMPERATURE CONTROL SYSTEM
An in vivo temperature control system includes a catheter insertable into a biological lumen; two or more temperature sensors placed such that they can measure a temperature distribution in a longitudinal direction of the biological lumen; a liquid storage section that stores a liquid; and a control section that estimates a spatial change in the biological lumen based on a temperature change before and after the liquid in the liquid storage section is released outwardly through the catheter, wherein the temperature change is measured by each of two or more temperature sensors.
