MECHANISM FOR AUTOMATED INJURY STABILIZATION AND TREATMENT

Systems and methods are disclosed that relate to a stabilization and cooling apparatus having a stabilizing structure with at least one inflatable chamber, the stabilizing structure configured to become semi-rigid upon inflation of the at least one inflatable chamber. A cooling structure is integrated with the stabilizing structure and includes a single-use cooling element and a thermally conductive material in thermal communication with the single-use cooling element. The apparatus also has an actuator configured to cause inflation of at least one inflatable chamber.

Cooling cap assembly and cooling unit

Devices, systems, and methods herein relate to cooling a head of a patient. These systems and methods may comprise a cooling cap assembly comprising a heat exchanger configured to be wrapped around a head of a patient and a compression assembly releasably coupled to the heat exchanger. The compression assembly may comprise an enclosure and an inflatable member coupled to an internal surface of the enclosure. When coupled, the inflatable member may be positioned between the enclosure and the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger may be separate from and moveable relative to the inflatable member.

A system having a controller includes one or more thermal generation element assemblies, or a plurality of air bladder assemblies, or a plurality of electromagnetic coil assemblies, or a combination thereof, that are in communication with the controller and are configured for activation by the controller. The one or more thermal generation element assemblies, or the plurality of air bladder assemblies, or the plurality of electromagnetic coil assemblies, or a combination thereof are configured to provide a holistic mitigating effect on a vehicle occupant confined within the interior space of a vehicle for long periods of time.

Patient securing overlay for underbody supports

Apparatus and methods related to an underbody support for supporting a body of a being, such as during surgery to prevent contact pressure injuries. In certain embodiments, the underbody support may include one or more inflatable chambers enclosing a volume. At least one of the inflatable chambers may include one or more compression sensitive switches for monitoring the volume of the inflatable chamber, and the one or more compression sensitive switches may be located within the inflatable chamber. In some embodiments the one or more compression sensitive switches are sized to close when the said inflatable chamber is deflated to a desired residual volume.

Air pocket-type massage device

An air pocket-type massage device is provided. The device can include: a bed unit (100) which is for supporting parts of the body of a user; a massage module (200) which is disposed on the bed unit (100) and includes a plurality of air pockets; and a position adjuster (300) which is provided on the bed unit (100) and enables changing of the position of the massage module (200).

HEAT EXCHANGE AND TEMPERATURE SENSING DEVICE AND METHOD OF USE

A method and apparatus are disclosed for regulating a temperature of an esophagus when heat or cold is delivered to a left atrium, the method including altering a heat exchange device from an insertable configuration to a heat exchanging configuration which conforms and corresponds with a cross-section of an inside of the esophagus such that the esophagus is maintained in its natural shape and location. In some embodiments the heat exchange device has a heating/cooling balloon which is inflated to be in the heat exchanging configuration. Some alternative embodiments includes altering the configuration of the balloon to conform to or correspond with the cross section of an esophagus by means other than inflation.

Temperature-Regulation Apparatus

The invention provides a temperature-regulation apparatus with a segmented metal-containing layer. The metal-containing layer has an electrically insulating coating and a plurality of mutually electrically insulated planar metal segments to increase insulation by reducing thermal emissivity whilst minimizing the hazards of an electrically conductive layer. The temperature-regulation apparatus may comprise a blanket which may be used to actively supply temperature regulated air for regulating the temperature of a subject, in which case it includes at least one port, or it may be used to passively maintain the temperature of a subject, or it may comprise a temperature-regulation garment.

METHODS AND APPARATUSES FOR TREATMENT OF MEIBOMIAN GLAND DYSFUNCTION

Apparatus and methods for treating dry eye include an energy source configured to apply energy to an obstruction located in a meibomian gland of a patient's eyelid. The apparatus also comprises an insulator configured to be positioned between a rear portion of the patient's eyelid and a surface of the patient's eyeball. An inner surface of the insulator has a curvature greater than that of the patient's eyeball such that an air pocket is formed between the inner surface of the insulator and the patient's eyeball, wherein the air pocket provides additional insulation to reduce or eliminate an amount of heat due to the applied energy from the energy source from being conducted to the surface of the patient's eyeball, such that the applied energy does not cause the temperature to reach a temperature sufficient to cause damage to a corneal or scleral portion of the patient's eyeball.
