APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR FILTERING AQUEOUS LIQUID

The invention relates to an apparatus for the filtration of aqueous liquid that is capable of effectively removing suspended particles from aqueous liquid during a prolonged period of time without clogging of the particulate filter media and associated pressure build-up. This filtration apparatus comprises: a filtration chamber comprising an inlet opening that is located near the bottom of the filtration chamber, and an outlet opening that is located near the top of the filtration chamber; a screen covering the outlet opening of the filtration chamber; a first dosing unit that is located upstream of the filtration chamber adapted to release water-soluble components into the stream of aqueous liquid that flows from the inlet to the filtration chamber; a particulate filter media that partially fills the interior of the filtration chamber; a flow regulator that regulates the flow rate of aqueous liquid through the filtration chamber and that can operate in a high flow rate mode or a reduced flow rate mode; a timer that controls the flow regulator; wherein the timer is programmed to alternatingly switch the flow regulator from the high flow rate mode to the reduced flow rate mode.

Drainless reverse osmosis water purification system

A drainless reverse osmosis (RO) water purification system provides relatively pure water for on-demand dispensing, while recycling brine to a domestic hot water system. The drainless purification system includes a pre-filter catalyst cartridge for removing chlorine-based contaminants from a tap water supply upstream from an RO membrane. The catalyst is regularly refreshed by a high through-flow of water to a conventional cold water dispense faucet, thereby significantly prolonging the service life of the RO membrane. The RO membrane is incorporated into a multi-cartridge unit adapted for facilitated slide-out removal and replacement as needed. A control valve recycles brine from the RO membrane to the hot water system during pure water production, and recirculates tap water through the RO membrane when a pure water reservoir is substantially filled. The multi-cartridge unit may further include an air filtration system for providing a flow of filtered air.

DYNAMIC SEPARATION AND FILTRATION

A modular, compact, mobile, dewatering and liquid-liquid separation and filtration system. The system processes incoming influents of slurries, solids and liquids at a high speed of operation and in large volumes. System is capable of being modularly scaled, allowing for a continuous steady state operation accommodating any slurry flow rate in a synchronous dynamic equilibrium process. Components and modules integrated into the system include a dynamic filtration clarifier 101 (DFC), a nested-filter dewatering cell 115 (NDC) and/or a compression filter press 125 (CFP). The DFC performs the primary dewatering phase of separating the primary water from the solids creating sludge. The NDC further breaks apart the solids of the sludge, removing interstitial water in a secondary dewatering phase, further lowering the moisture content of the sludge, while the CFP removes the tertiary water from the remaining solid particles by pressing the particles into a solid cake.

ANTIMICROBIAL APPLICATION SYSTEM WITH RECYCLE AND CAPTURE

A capture unit for use with an antimicrobial application unit may include an upstream filter and a downstream filter. The upstream filter may be positioned to receive effluent from the application unit and to filter solid components from the effluent. The resultant upstream effluent filtrate may then be passed downstream to the downstream filter. The downstream filter may be used to filter an antimicrobial component from the upstream effluent filtrate and the resultant downstream effluent filtrate may be suitable for disposal as wastewater discharge. The antimicrobial is preferably a quaternary ammonium compound, is more preferably an alkylpyridinium chloride, and is most preferably cetylpyridinium chloride.
