System and a method for improving a person's sleep
A system for improving a person's sleep includes a bedding layer having a plurality of individually controllable thermally adjustable zones, a plurality of temperature sensors, where at least one temperature sensor per thermally adjustable zone is dispersed throughout the bedding layer. Further, a controller is configured to control the heating power of each thermally adjustable zone, and detect in which the body presence is detected.
A Blanket for Forced Air Warming of a Patient
A blanket for forced air warming of a patient, the blanket including a non-air permeable outer layer an air permeable inner layer contactable to the patient; the outer layer and inner layer defining an inflatable chamber, the inflatable chamber allowing egress of the forced warming air through the inner layer; wherein in use, the inflated chamber provides visual transparency of the patient.
Relocation module for patient monitors and surgical equipment
A module for housing electronic and electromechanical equipment and for managing waste heat during surgery. The module including a lower section configured to house unrelated waste heat-producing electronic and electromechanical surgical equipment during surgery and a tower-like upper section located above the lower section. A rear portion of the lower section is configured to fit into an unused space under an arm-board of a surgical table. The upper section is configured to be positioned adjacent an anesthesia side of an arm-board of the surgical table and the upper section is configured to accommodate mounting of equipment controls and a display at a height to be viewed and operated by a user.
CLOSURE FOR RELEASABLY SEALING AN AIR HOSE PORT
A retainer with a closure mechanism not removable from the retainer is bonded to each of the air inlet openings of an inflatable convective thermal blanket. The bottom surface of the retainer is bonded to the blanket so that its orifice is in alignment with the opening into the blanket. The closure may be a flexible layer or sheet that is adhesively attached to the top surface of the retainer. An end portion of the flexible layer away from the orifice of the retainer may be press or die cut into the retainer so that the flexible layer is non-removably attached to the retainer when the user peels the releasably secured portion of the flexible layer away from the retainer to expose the air inlet opening. The closure can also be an extension of the retainer that is hingedly connected to the retainer so as to be able to be moved pivotally to cover the retainer. The closure has a configuration that allows it to be releasably secured to the retainer when it covers the orifice opening of the retainer.
METALIZED FABRIC HEATING BLANKET
There is disclosed a warming blanket having a metalized fabric exterior layer and an interior heating element made of a carbon fiber mat or carbon veil. The warming blanket includes electrodes that are formed of a conductive ink which extends through the width of the carbon veil.
Phototherapy blanket temperature determination
Systems and methods for determining one or more temperatures within a phototherapy blanket use or include one or more temperature sensors and a set of light sources to determine a temperature of a subject undergoing phototherapy within the phototherapy blanket and estimate a core temperature of the subject based on, at least, the temperature. The phototherapy blanket may include a thicker region having a higher thermal insulation than one or more other regions of the phototherapy blanket. By virtue of measuring the temperature at or near the thicker region, the uncertainty in the relation between a temperature and the subject's core temperature may be reduced, for more accurate temperature determination within the phototherapy blanket.
Patient temperature response control system and method
A system and method are provided that employ a monitoring device to monitor at least one patient physiological response to a change in temperature of the patient (e.g. pursuant to induced hypothermia therapy), wherein a monitoring signal is provided by the monitoring device. In turn, an output (e.g. a visual and/or auditory output) may be provided to a user indicative of at least one measure of patient response to the change in temperature. Alternatively or additionally, a processor may be provided to process the monitoring signal and provide an output employable by medical personnel to control a patient shivering response to the patient temperature change. Such information may comprise information regarding one or more anti-shivering medicament(s), e.g. corresponding dosage and/or frequency information for use by medical personnel in the administration of the anti-shivering medicament. In one approach, a motion sensor may be selectively attached to a patient's chin to provide a wireless monitoring signal to a transceiver. In turn, the transceiver may provide the monitoring signal to the processor on an ongoing basis to output information useful in the administration of an anti-shivering medicament, including updated information that takes into account a patient's response to a prior administration of one or more medicaments in conjunction with the subsequent administration of an anti-shivering medicament.
ROUND-THE-CLOCK MONITORING OF AN ANIMAL'S HEALTH STATUS
A system and associated methods for round-the-clock monitoring of an animal's health status includes an animal harness that is worn by the animal, and one or both of a mobile device and a remote server. The animal harness includes a plurality of sensors for collecting health measurements of the animal. The animal harness also includes a transceiver that communicates the heath measurements to one or both of the mobile device and the remote server, where a user may view the health measurements. Firmware in the animal harness, an application running in the mobile device, and software in the remote server processes and corrects the health measurements to generate a health status of the animal and notifications are generated when the animal's health is not within a safe range defined by the user.
Positioning Device for use in Therapeutic Treatment
Disclosed is a positioning device for use in a compound portable phototherapy device to contain and enhance therapeutic treatment to a subject. The positioning device comprises an inner surface composed of a non-porous, light reflective material, as well as an outer surface that may be opaque. Use of the positioning device in conjunction with a phototherapy device secures advantages of increased incident light directed on a subject and a controlled thermal environment for the subject. The positioning device may be portable and may be pliable, capable of being rolled or compressed. The positioning device may optionally include a visor, venting, and stabilizing cushioning. The positioning device may optionally include a thermal regulation element.
Heating/Cooling Therapy System
A thermal therapy system includes at least one Peltier device having a heating side and a cooling side; a cold fluid channel adjacent the cooling side of the at least one Peltier device, and a hot fluid channel adjacent the heating side of the at least one Peltier device. A controllable cooling fluid pump in fluid communication with the cold fluid channel drives cooling fluid to an applicator pad, and an independently-controllable heating fluid pump in fluid communication with the hot fluid channel drives hot fluid to the applicator pad.
