A filter element for filtering a fluid comprises a first clamping ring with an outer ring; a first filter disk; a first inner support plate for supporting the first filter disk and which faces to the outside or to an inner flow channel; a second inner support plate provided with recesses; a second filter disk arranged adjacent the second inner support plate; and a second clamping ring which is connected to the first clamping ring by connecting elements. The filter disks and the inner support plates are arranged inside a housing which is formed by the clamping rings, by at least one outer ring and by outer support plates provided with recesses and covering the filter disks on the outside.

The water filtration and recycling system includes a recycling machine including a clean tank to hold clean water that cycles through the water filtration and recycling system, a dirty tank to hold dirty water that cycles through the water filtration and recycling system, a dirty water in manifold to direct the water into the dirty manifold, a dirty water out manifold to direct the water out of the dirty manifold, a clean water in manifold to direct the water into the clean manifold, and a clean water out manifold to direct the water out of the clean manifold.

The instrument can include several unique features, including a compression style reaction vessel permitting quick setup of the reaction vessel, a double reaction vessel system permitting efficient mixing without loss of solvent or solvent-to-resin contact, gravity-fed heated reservoirs establishing a fixed volume for delivery to the reaction vessel, fume-free solvent addition permitting solvent addition to fixed bottles, and an improved amino acid manifold assembly which reduces the number of components and increases the ease of use of the instrument. Each of these features improve upon the current state of the art in solid phase automated peptide synthesizers.

A method for filtering particulate down to 0.5 micron from cooking oil at a filtration temperature of up to 425° Fahrenheit is provided. The method includes providing a filter having a non-woven panel of randomly oriented fibers of polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) material and exposing the filter to the oil for a period of time while applying a pressure or vacuum to move the oil through the filter for filtering particulate from the cooking oil.
