A brine injection machine for injecting brine to meat pieces is provided. The machine comprises an auxiliary frame (10) configured to carry a pre-filtering unit (6), and a pre-filtered brine tank (7), the auxiliary frame being detachable with regard to the main frame (1). At least one level sensors (32) is configured for detecting an amount of pre-filtered brine in the pre-filtered brine tank (7), and an electronic control device is configured for controlling the brine injection operation as a function of the amount of pre-filtered brine in the pre-filtered brine tank (7) that can be recycled, as detected by the at least one level sensor (32) at the end of a brine injection cycle. It is also disclosed a method for operating a brine injection machine according to the invention.

A centrifugal solids-liquid separator system has a drum that spins about a rotational axis with a helical channel for moving solid particles up into a blower channel and out a blower outlet, wherein the drum is moved with a variable speed to cause the solid particles to move up the helical channel. The helical channel is configured along an inside wall of the drum and the solid particles from a slurry move up along the helical channel to a top flange and over this top flange into the blower channel. The blower then forces the solid particles out of the system. The liquid of the slurry flows from a receiving base configured at the base of the helical channel or drum, out of a liquid outlet to exit the system for collection or disposal. A motor spins the drum and may power the blower to operate the system.

A filtering drum, axially rotatable horizontally, includes a filtration basket with thermally coupled mesh netting for retaining algae and passing through liquid when filtering drum is rotated. Feeding liquid containing algae is fed into filtering drum via inlet pipe. Filtered algae retained on internal surface of filtration basket is scraped and collected, and removed through outlet pipe. Filtration basket is axially embedded and releasably secured to a support frame. Mesh netting is thermally pressed into filtration basket such that filtration basket polymer material penetrates through mesh netting apertures, and polymeric rod thermally pressed onto mesh netting fuses to filtration basket polymer material with mesh netting contained therebetween. Mesh netting includes wired mesh with wire diameter less than 1,000 pm and micron sized apertures having aperture diameter of 1 pm-500 pm to enable filtration of micron sized algae.

A rotary disc filter designed to remove suspended solids from wastewater is provided with a high pressure media cleaning system. The high pressure media cleaning system comprises a sectioned manifold that extends along the side of an array of disc-shaped filter units. The sectioned manifold includes a plurality of hydraulic sections with each hydraulic section isolated from the other hydraulic section or sections. Communicatively connected to each hydraulic section is a plurality of spray bars that include nozzles. The spray bars communicatively connected to a particular hydraulic section is designated to clean only a section of the filter units at any one time. Pressurized water is supplied to one hydraulic section at a time. The pressurized water enters the hydraulic section and from the hydraulic section flows through the respective spray bars communicatively connected thereto and out the nozzles of the spray bars and in the process cleans filter media that form a part of the filter unit of a particular filter unit section.
