A drainless reverse osmosis (RO) water purification system provides relatively pure water for on-demand dispensing, while recycling brine to a domestic hot water system. The drainless purification system includes a pre-filter catalyst cartridge for removing chlorine-based contaminants from a tap water supply upstream from an RO membrane. The catalyst is regularly refreshed by a high through-flow of water to a conventional cold water dispense faucet, thereby significantly prolonging the service life of the RO membrane. The RO membrane is incorporated into a multi-cartridge unit adapted for facilitated slide-out removal and replacement as needed. A control valve recycles brine from the RO membrane to the hot water system during pure water production, and recirculates tap water through the RO membrane when a pure water reservoir is substantially filled. The multi-cartridge unit may further include an air filtration system for providing a flow of filtered air.

The present invention describes a water filter apparatus (100, 100a) with integrated nutrient enrichment and/or enhancement. The stick capsule has a tapered end (162) and in association with T-shaped posts (157) formed on an inside of a cap (151) of the filter element, dynamic flow of water along the tapered end (162) induces nutrient-rich water to flow through perforations (165) at the end of the stick capsule (160), mixes/blends the two streams of water before water is discharged through a faucet (144). The filtered water is also enhanced by treating the water through flavor treatment, anti-bacterial, anti-chlorine, activated carbon and so on.

A compact shower water filter assembly for holding a water filter element therein. The water filter element is easily changeable by unscrewing two halves of a body forming the filter assembly. The body halves are easily gripped and turned, so as to be opened or closed. The upper half of the body is internally threaded to engage the shower arm, and may pivot about the shower arm. The bottom half of the water filter assembly may include a showerhead, converting the shower water filter assembly, into a filtered showerhead assembly. A multistage shower filter assembly for water filtering having an in-line reversible filter, changeable by unscrewing two portions of the housing. The housing exterior includes a plurality of gripping means to allow easy opening and closing of the housing and to prevent slippage of the hands of a user gripping the two portions, even when wet. The multistage shower filter assembly includes a separate internal multistage filter element that may be easily inserted into or removed from the multistage shower filter assembly to allow the internal filter element to be easily reversed for longer use.
