IN SITU REJUVENATION OF CONTAMINATED MECHANICAL FILTRATION MEDIUM
20210060463 · 2021-03-04 ·

An in situ system of filter rejuvenation can be applied to a mechanical filter passing fluid contaminated by chemical and particulate materials such that the filter removes the contaminants from the flow by trapping the contaminants in a filter medium. A non-combustive infrared heating system gasifies the trapped contaminants without combustion and without emissions to the atmosphere, restoring the efficacy of the filtration medium.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR ENERGY-EFFICIENT DRYING OF CO-PRODUCTS IN BIOREFINERIES
20200399193 · 2020-12-24 ·

A method is disclosed for improving the energy efficiency of biorefinery drying operations through integration of a dryer that utilizes the heat of condensation of process vapors to dry material whose emissions are captured with energy recovery. The dryer separates clean process vapors (e.g., ethanol) and steam from vapors containing volatile organic compounds and entrained materials, to minimize the need for vapor cleanup. An indirect dryer condenses vapors in a tube dryer similar to a steam tube dryer, but utilizing compressed process vapors, transferring the heat to wet material undergoing drying. The resulting exhaust vapors are either directed to a process stage that requires heat (e.g., distillation) and minimizes the need for vapor cleanup or to an out-of-contact heat exchanger that produces vapors for process use, or to another dryer as an additional effect. Mechanical-vapor recompression or thermal-vapor recompression are employed to produce vapors that optimize overall energy recovery.

Oil conditioner for removing fluid impurities
10619793 · 2020-04-14 ·

An oil conditioner is provided for removing impurities from oil, such as water, fuel and glycol, to increase engine life and efficiency. An evaporator assembly includes an upper plate, a lower plate, with a heater unit sandwiched between the two. To increase the efficiency of the evaporator assembly, materials are selected so that the upper plate thermal conductivity property is greater than the lower plate thermal conductivity property; and, optionally, the lower plate includes a reflective surface to direct thermal radiation toward the upper plate. This unique design enables oil conditioning with reduced power consumption and improved heating compared to existing technology.

Oil cleaner with heated evaporation surface, to remove water and volatiles
09995433 · 2018-06-12 ·

A circulating oil stream cleaner wherein oil to be cleaned is passed through filter medium to remove particulates carried by the circulating oil and through an evaporator unit having a flat, inclined, evaporation surface comprising a top surface of a heat conductive heating block with an electric heater probe therein and positioned closely beneath the heating surface and, with the circulating oil being conductively heated as it passes beneath the heating block, up a frontal end of the heating block and cascades onto and spreads as a film over and then off the heating surface of the heating block through an exit port of the evaporator unit; an evaporation chamber provided above the heating surface allows heated air to circulate over and convectively heat the film of oil and to escape with entrained water and volatiles.
