Device and method for creating a channel in soft tissue

Medical devices and methods for removing a predetermined shape of soft tissue from a target tissue layer, thereby leaving a matching channel with predetermined geometry and orientation in the target tissue layer, are described. The medical device comprises coaxial outer and inner elongated members extending along axis X; said outer member comprises an open distal side and a first distal part configured for sticking to said target tissue layer during forward axial movement; said inner member comprises a second distal part configured to rotate and project distally through said open distal side to cut said predetermined shape of the soft tissue from the target tissue layer and create said channel formed as a hole across the target tissue layer.

A fragmentation tip includes a shaft part and a fragmentation part. The shaft part has a tubular shape having a center axis that matches with a rotational axis of the fragmentation tip. The fragmentation part has a tubular shape and is connected to a distal end portion of the shaft part such that a center axis thereof is inclined to the rotational axis of the fragmentation tip. The fragmentation part and the shaft part form a suction passage therein. The fragmentation part has an annular open end at its distal end. The open end has a linear open end linearly formed when seen from a distal end side in the rotational axis. The linear open end is formed in a portion of the annular open end that is the closest to the rotational axis. The rotational axis passes through a region inside an outer circumference of the annular open end.

STENT IMPLANT FOR TREATING GLAUCOMA BY MEANS OF INTRAOCULAR FLUID DRAINAGE FROM THE ANTERIOR CHAMBER
20230218441 · 2023-07-13 ·

The present invention relates to a stent implant for treating glaucoma by means of intraocular fluid drainage from the anterior chamber, preferably in the suprachoroidal space. The stent implant according to the invention is designed to bring about a change in shape after being inserted into the eye, during which change the width and/or thickness or the flow cross-section is increased by more than 20%, preferably more than 200%, and particularly preferably by more than 400%, at at least one point of the stent implant. In the case of intraocular fluid drainage from the anterior chamber into the suprachoroidal space, a cyclodialysis cleft which may open can therefore be at least largely or completely closed. The proposed stent implant is provided in particular for intraocular fluid drainage into the suprachoroidal space. With appropriate adjustments, the stent implant can also be applied in trabecular, uveoscleral, uveolymphatic and subconjunctival applications for intraocular fluid drainage from the anterior chamber. Said implant can even be used for direct intraocular fluid discharge from the anterior chamber onto the surface of the eye.

OPHTHALMIC PORTABLE LASER SLIT LAMP AND METHOD FOR EYE INSPECTION
20230218166 · 2023-07-13 · ·

An ophthalmic portable laser slit lamp for ophthalmic examination and a method of eye inspection. The device comprises a portable housing containing an electronic timer circuit, a rechargeable battery, a laser module containing a laser emitting diode, a fixed focusing lens that sets the appropriate focal distance for the examination method and a line generator lens acting as a slit aperture. The laser beam aimed to the eye of the patient illuminates the eye with a very thin straight laser line at a fixed focal distance. The device also comprises a safety timer circuit that protects the patients eye against irradiation overload. The method of the invention allows the surgeon to detect surgical eye disorders at the operating room and helps to carry out a correct diagnosis in a much more precise and effective way than any light or laser spot device.

BIOCOMPATIBLE HYDROGEL TREATMENTS FOR RETINAL DETACHMENT
20230218799 · 2023-07-13 ·

Provided herein are in vivo gelling ophthalmic pre-formulations forming a biocompatible retinal patch comprising at least one nucleophilic compound or monomer unit, at least one electrophilic compound or monomer unit, and optionally a therapeutic agent and/or viscosity enhancer. In some embodiments, the retinal patch at least partially adheres to the site of a retinal tear. Also provided herein are methods of treating retinal detachment by delivering an in vivo gelling ophthalmic pre-formulation to the site of a retinal tear in human eye, wherein the in vivo gelling ophthalmic pre-formulation forms a retinal patch.
