LIQUID HYDROCARBON FILTERABILITY SYSTEM

A liquid hydrocarbon filterability system includes a liquid hydrocarbon sample source piping in fluid communication with a liquid hydrocarbon sample container. A filtration media element is in fluid communication with the liquid hydrocarbon sample source piping. Filtered liquid hydrocarbon outlet piping is in fluid communication with and downstream of the filtration media element. A flow or volume measurement element is in fluid communication with the filtered liquid hydrocarbon outlet piping and is configured to measure an amount of liquid hydrocarbon passing through the filtration media element. A constant pressure source is configured to provide liquid hydrocarbon to the filtration media element at a constant pressure.

A supercritical fluid power generation system includes an automatic filter cleaning apparatus, which is used in an automatic filter cleaning method. The system includes a cooler configured to cause a phase change of a working fluid from a gaseous state to a liquid state or to cool the working fluid to a low temperature; a fluid pump configured to receive and compress the working fluid from the cooler; a heat exchanger configured to heat the working fluid via a heat exchange with the working fluid which has passed through the fluid pump; at least one turbine configured to expand the heated working fluid and connected to a generator to produce electric power; a plurality of transport pipes in which the working fluid flows; and plural filter lines configured to remove, via back-flushing, a foreign substance included in the working fluid present in at least one of the transport pipes.

APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR FILTERING METALS

An apparatus and method for filtering molten metal (M), such as aluminum or an aluminum alloy includes at least one ceramic foam filter or any other type of filtration media such as porous tube or alumina balls disposed in a receptacle (12) for the molten metal (M). A vibrator vibrates at least one of the filter, the receptacle (12) or the metal and may be used to induce priming, filtering and/or drainage of the filter. The vibrator may be retrofitted to an existing filter system and may be adjustable in frequency and amplitude. The vibration may be continuous over a given period or produced in a single shock.

Control Zone Devices, Systems And Methods

Control zone devices that integrate a valve, filter, and pressure regulator within a single device are provided. Specifically, the control zone devices include a main body having a base portion with an inlet passage and an outlet passage attachable to a conduit and a body portion extending from the base portion having an interior for receiving a filter. The control zone devices further include a valve body including a solenoid bowl for attaching a solenoid and an interface cap for removably coupling the valve body to the main body of the control zone device and forming an interface between the valve body and the main body to operate the valve. The control zone devices also include a pressure regulator. In some configurations, the pressure regulator is positioned in a vent flow path of the valve body downstream of the solenoid for regulating pressure at the valve.

An end face (90) of that piston is subjected to the instantaneous pressure of the non-filtrate side (15). The opposite end face of the piston is subjected to the instantaneous pressure of the filtrate side (17). Each instantaneous pressure passes into the measurement housing (88) via at least one conduit (57, 61, 65, 89). At least a section (57, 61) of the conduit is arranged in an element cap (43) of the filter element.

The cleaning cycle is modified to improve removal of solids from the filter candles of the candle filter units.
