Ultra-high performance and high purify biogenic silica filtration media
This disclosure relates to ultra-high performance diatomite products possessing very high silica specific volume, a characteristic which provides for high filtration performance, in terms of low unit consumption and long filtration cycle times. These novel products of this disclosure also show very low extractable metals for both the non-acid washed and the high purity (acid washed) grades. These characteristics are of particular value in the separation of solids from high purity liquids in electronic chemical, specialty beverage and life science applications. In addition to outstanding physical and chemical characteristics, these products also contain no detectable levels of cristobalite and have a wide range of permeabilities, and are produced from mineralogically impure ores containing high levels of alumina and iron oxide.
POLYSACCHARIDE-PEPTIDE COMPLEX FOR LOWERING BLOOD SUGAR, BLOOD LIPID AND GLYCOSYLATED HEMOGLOBIN LEVELS, AND PREPARATION METHOD
Disclosed are a polysaccharide-peptide composite and a method of preparing the same. The polysaccharide-peptide composite is prepared from a bitter melon peptide (BMP) powder, gardenia fruit oil, a soybean polypeptide powder, an oat dietary fiber powder, a konjac powder, a corn silk, a mulberry leaf extract, a Poria cocos extract, a hawthorn extract, nutritional yeast and a pancreatin. The BMP powder is prepared by temperature-controlled hydrolysis, staged enzymatic hydrolysis and multiple filtrations. The gardenia fruit oil is prepared by staged enzymatic hydrolysis, multi-step centrifugation, filtration and stratification.
OPALINE BIOGENIC SILICA/EXPANDED PERLITE COMPOSITE PRODUCTS
A powdered composite filtration medium includes composite particles that include at least one diatomite particle and at least one expanded perlite particle sintered together. The composite powdered filtration medium may include from about 7 wt % to about 90 wt % diatomite, from about 93 wt % to about 10 wt % expanded perlite. Less than about 1% total crystalline silica may be present in the medium. The medium may have a permeability of at least 0.25 darcy. The diatomite and expanded perlite may be sintered or calcined with or without a fluxing agent.

Honeycomb filter
The honeycomb filter of the present invention comprises a ceramic honeycomb substrate formed from a porous body of sintered ceramic particles, and a filter layer formed on the surface of the cell walls, wherein a portion of the filter layer penetrates from the surface of the cell walls into pores formed by the ceramic particles to form inter-particle filtration bodies, these inter-particle filtration bodies are formed from a plurality of spherical ceramic particles and crosslinking bodies which bind the spherical ceramic particles to each other, and the spherical ceramic particles and the crosslinking bodies form a three-dimensional network structure.
Vacuum cleaner filter bags comprising recycled textile materials and/or cotton linters
The present invention relates to vacuum cleaner filter bags composed of waste products of the textile industry. In addition, possibilities of use for waste products of the textile industry for vacuum cleaner filter bags are provided. The vacuum cleaner filter bag comprising a wall surrounding an inner space and composed of an air-permeable material and an inlet opening introduced into the wall, characterized in that the air-permeable material comprises at least one layer of a nonwoven that comprises fibrous and/or pulverulent recycled textile material and/or cotton linters, with the specific volume of the layer of the nonwoven amounting to at least 20 cm.sup.3/g.

BIOPOLYMERIC WATER TREATMENT
A method of water treatment includes providing water that includes at least one contaminant. An effective amount of at least one filter media is added to the to the water that includes at least one contaminant. The water and the at least one filter media are agitated to form a homogeneous mixture. A cationic biopolymer is added to the homogeneous mixture of water and the at least one filter media. The water is separated from the at least one contaminant and the at least one filter media.
Granular green sorbent media for filtration of contaminated water
Filter media for treating contaminated water is produced from aluminum-based water treatment residuals (Al-WTR) commonly produced as a byproduct of water treatment plants. By processing the residuals into small granules, a superior green sorbent product is obtained with the functionality to adsorb contaminants, such as metals and certain nutrients in water. Biopolymers can be incorporated into the filter media to further enhance functionality and hydraulic characters.
Honeycomb filter
The honeycomb filter includes a honeycomb substrate having porous partition walls defining a plurality of cells and plugging portions. In a cross section, the cells are arranged so that a periphery of an inlet plugged cell including an open end whose shape is a square in which a length of one side is L1 is surrounded with four rectangular outlet plugged cells each including an open end whose shape is a rectangle in which a length of one side is L1 and a length of the other side is L2 (L1>L2) and four square outlet plugged cells each including an open end whose shape is a square in which a length of one side is L2. A partition wall center distance a, a partition wall center distance b and a partition wall thickness t satisfy the following equation (1):
0.95<b/at<1.90 (1).
