MODULAR FILTRATION SYSTEM
A filtration vessel, having within constituent filter media is formed using plastic injection molding to meet the interior specifications of a high-pressure filtration encasement system while remaining a separate replaceable component. The encasement system supports and encases walls of the filtration vessel enabling the vessel to be designed with sufficient strength and resiliency to form a seal and constrain filter media prior to and after use without necessitating construction to endure independent high-pressure operations. The bottom or base of the vessel includes a plurality of holes through which the filtrate may flow. Interposed between the base of the vessel and the filter media is a semi-permeable barrier imbedded into the injection molded walls and base of the vessel. The barrier prevents residue from contaminating the filtrate.
FILTER ELEMENT FOR FILTERING A FLUID FLOW
A filter element for filtering a fluid flow, e.g., lubricating oil, is disclosed. The filter element includes a cylindrical fine filter body that forms a fine filter stage, a cylindrical main filter body that forms a main filter stage, and a cylindrical protection filter body that forms a protection filter stage. The fine filter body and the main filter body follow one another axially and enclose a cavity so that the fine filter stage and the main filter stage are arranged fluidically parallel. The protection filter body is arranged in the cavity so that the protection filter stage is fluidically arranged downstream of the fine filter stage and the main filter stage. A bypass valve is disposed on a first end plate for bypassing the fine filter stage and the main filter stage. An intermediate plate axially connects the fine filter body to the main filter body.
Battery containing acid resistant nonwoven fiber mat with biosoluble microfibers
Acid-resistant and biosoluble glass compositions and products made therefrom. The glass compositions exhibit acid resistance, durability in white water as may be used in a wet laid fabrication process, and good biosolubility. In another aspect, a glass fiber mat is made from such a glass composition, and may be used in the manufacture of lead-acid batteries, for example as a pasting material or battery separator.
CONTAMINATE SEQUESTERING COATINGS AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME
Contaminate-sequestering coatings including a network of hydrolyzed silane compounds including a plurality of thiol functional groups, a plurality of fluorinated functionalities, or both are provided. The contaminate-sequestering coatings may sequester one or more per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), heavy metals, biological species or any combination thereof. Methods of functionalizing a substrate surface with contaminate-sequestering functionalities that sequester one or more PFAS, heavy metals, or both are also provided. Methods of removing contaminants from contaminate-containing liquids, and devices including the contaminate-sequestering coatings are also provided.
FILTER UNIT AND FILTRATION SYSTEM
The filter unit for filtering a liquid comprises a carrier, which is rotatably supported around a rotational axis and comprises a plurality of carrier segments arranged around its circumference. In each carrier segment, two first screen elements are arranged in such a way that they extend outward from the circumference of the carrier and approach each other with increasing distance from the circumference of the carrier in the radial direction relative to the rotational axis. In each carrier segment, furthermore, a second screen element is arranged, which extends substantially along the circumference of the carrier, so that the two first screen elements and the second screen element of a carrier segment are arranged substantially in the form of a triangle. A pore size of the second screen element is larger than a pore size of the first screen elements.
HVAC home air filter
An apparatus and a method are provided for a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) home air filter to remove airborne molecular contaminants and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from air within residential spaces. The HVAC home air filter includes a supportive frame having a shape and size suitable to orient the HVAC home air filter within a residential HVAC system. A filter medium is retained within the supportive frame to remove the airborne molecular contaminants and VOCs from air flowing through the residential HVAC system. The filter medium includes a combination of media layers configured to exhibit a relatively high filtration efficiency and a low air pressure drop across the filter medium. The supportive frame includes a plurality of elongate sections and corner sections disposed along perimeter edges of the filter medium to support the filter medium within the residential HVAC system so as direct air through the filter medium.
HEMP-BASED CHAR OR OILS AND POLYMERS FORMED AS FIBERS OR FILMS HAVING ENHANCED PROPERTIES
A process of forming a fiber comprised of a plurality of bio-char particles, comprising: combining a portion of a polymer with a hemp derivative, said hemp derivative selected form a hemp carbon made by pyrolyzing a quantity of hemp stalk at between 1100-1500 C. to create a char; adding the char to a milling vessel and milling the char for a period of between 1 to 16 hours, and a full spectrum hemp extract, or combinations thereof, wherein the polymer and hemp derivative are extruded to form a fiber.
FABRIC LAYER, FLAT MATERIAL, FILTER ELEMENT, FILTER AND METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION OF A FABRIC LAYER
The invention relates to a fabric layer, in particular a protective fabric and/or backing fabric, for a corrugated or pleated flat material of a filter element, wherein the flat material comprises a plurality of pleats or corrugations running parallel to one another, which form successive pleat or corrugation peaks and pleat or corrugation troughs, which are connected to one another by a pleat flank, wherein a fluid can flow through the flat material, wherein the fabric layer comprises a first fabric region, in particular a first fabric strip, and at least one second fabric region, in particular a second fabric strip, the threads whereof, in particular weft threads, merge into one another, wherein the first fabric region, in particular the first fabric strip, comprises a first type of weave and the second fabric region, in particular the second fabric strip, a second type of weave, which differs from the first type of weave.
Three-dimensional printing of engineered, on-demand, ceramic filters for castings
Systems and methods are disclosed that overcome problems with conventional filters for high temperature casting materials. According to embodiments, uniform, engineered filters enable consistent and repeatable metal flow rates without becoming a secondary source of contamination. Proven Additive Manufacturing (AM) methods generate engineered filters that achieve consistent filtration efficiency and predictable metal flow into a casting mold. Through this application of AM for ceramics, the resulting filter incorporates features that can be adjusted on-demand to address the needs of specific alloys and geometries applied in the production of castings. According to an embodiment, the method includes generating, using an additive manufacturing apparatus, a plurality of layers, wherein each layer includes individual ceramic ligaments arranged in a grid pattern having a two-dimensional rotational orientation. The method further includes stacking the layers along a thickness direction to form the filter.
