An intraocular implant device for comprehensive intraocular vision advancement includes an intraocular implant body shaped for positioning inside a lens chamber of an eye. In some embodiments, the implant includes an optical adjustable base accommodating lens configured to provide both base adjustment and accommodation. In further embodiments, the implant includes a photoelectric sensor operable to receive incident light through the cornea and to convert the received light into electrical energy for use with one or more circuit components disposed on the body, and wherein the photoelectric sensor is also operable to convert the received light into image data. The ocular implant device may include a projector for projecting the an image representative of the image data onto the retina of a user.

Methods and Systems for Displaying Eye Images to Subjects and for Interacting with Virtual Objects

A processing subsystem generates perceived images from information bearing nerve impulses that are transmitted from a subject's eye(s) to a visual processing region of the subject's brain along one or more nerves in response to the subject viewing a real-world scene. The processing subsystem generates display images based on the perceived images, and controls a display device to display the display images to the subject. In certain embodiments, the processing subsystem generates the display images by manipulating or modifying the perceived images to include virtual images, and provides a type of virtual pointing on the display images that is used to invoke one or more actions.

Medical device for improving environmental perception for blind or visually-impaired users

A device for improving environmental perception for blind or visually impaired users, including a set of mechanical actuators intended to be in contact with the skin of a user, at least one digital camera designed to acquire a current digital image of an environment facing the user, a processing circuit connected to the camera for receiving pixel signals from the acquired digital image and converting at least one portion of the pixel signals into control signals, each of which powers a mechanical actuator of the set of actuators, an eye-tracking module for tracking each eye of the user to identify a gaze direction of the user. The processing circuit then selects, in the environment filmed by the camera, an area of acquired current image which is a function of the gaze direction and converts the pixel signals of said area into control signals, each of which powers an actuator of the set to stimulate the user's skin.

An implantable system includes an implanted camera that captures images. An analytics engine analyzes the images to determine whether any objects or aspects of the captured image is considered an unviewable element. Upon determining that an unviewable element is present, the analytics engine causes an occlusion device to occlude the unviewable element from the user's view. The occlusion can also affect the ability of the camera to continue to see the unviewable element.

A system for producing a depiction of an image is provided. The present invention includes camera operable to capture an image and a laser projector operable to project a laser beam in an x and y direction. The present invention further includes a computer having a microprocessor and a memory. A software may be saved on the memory and may operate the computer to scan the image to locate edges of objects depicted in the image and direct the laser projector to project the laser beam along x and y coordinates of a plane. The x and y coordinates outlines the edges of the objects and thereby forms the depiction of the image.

An implant that is to be implanted inside the eye of a person contains a laser projection scanning subsystem that is configured to “paint” an image of the scene that is before the person, on the retina. The image of the scene may be acquired by a digital camera that is attached to a head unit that may be worn by the person, and then transmitted to the implant. Other aspects are also described and claimed.
