Filter elements and methods of manufacturing filter elements are provided. Examples of filter elements include a media pack and a frame attached thereto. In one example, the frame includes a side panel that is or includes a foldable portion. The foldable portion is folded away from the media pack and an adhesive is located therebetween during assembly. In other examples, a media support member is provided that includes at least one side support panel that supports a side of the media pack. A portion of the side support member is positioned between adjacent pleat panels of the media pack.
AIR FILTER ASSEMBLY
An air filter assembly is disclosed and has a filter housing. The filter housing includes an outlet formed on a bottom wall of the filter housing. The outlet has an engagement wall formed in a predefined shape around the outlet. The filter housing further includes a holder formed concentrically disposed around the outlet. The air filter assembly includes a filter cartridge removably installed inside the holder. The filter cartridge comprises a filter media configured to clean air and a base removably installed in the holder, the base configured to receive the filter media. The base comprises a first sealant disposed around the hole and has a flat surface configured to engage with the edges of the engagement walls to form an axial seal and a second sealant disposed around a periphery of the base and configured to engage with an inner wall of the holder to form a radial seal.
FOLDABLE AIR FILTER UNIT
An air filter unit for purifying air. The air filter unit includes a filter body extending along an axis, a first filter frame and a second filter frame arranged on opposite ends of said filter body. Each of the first and second filter frame includes four elongated frame members turnably secured to each other. The four elongated frame members are turnably secured to each other such that the filter body could be arranged in a first and a second state. The first state is such that the filter body is folded to reduce the volume of the filter unit and the second state is such that the filter body is assembled.
FILTER WITH FLEXIBLE SIDE SEAL
A collapsible filter having a collapsed position and an expanded position includes a filter media layer having generally parallel pleat edges and a side edge perpendicular to the pleat edge. The filter also has a pair of end caps that are disposed at opposite ends of the filter media layer and are generally parallel to the pleat edges. A flexible side seal is attached to both the end caps but is not attached to the filter media layer. In an expanded position, the flexible side seal extends between the end caps and abuts against the side edge of the filter media layer.
INDUSTRIAL COATING APPLICATION FILTER WITH PLEATED SUPPORT
A filter for industrial coating filtration systems. The filter has a housing made up of a peripheral wall extending around the periphery. The housing is preferably made of a suitably rigid material. A preferably rigid support backing is mounted within the housing. The support backing has a planar configuration with openings formed through it so that gas can flow through without substantial resistance. The preferably planar sheet of which the support backing is made is pleated. The pleated support backing defines a series of panels, each of which is angled to a next adjacent panel. Filtration media is mounted to the support backing, end caps are attached to the ends of the support backing to maintain the pleated configuration, and the assembly is inserted into the housing, which can have end flaps to seal using tape or adhesive.
EXPANDABLE AIR FILTERS
An expandable air filter. The air filter including a filter media assembly, an outer frame assembly, and at least one support member. The filter media assembly defines opposing, first and second major faces and a perimeter. The outer frame assembly is arranged about the perimeter. The support member is connected to the outer frame assembly and extends across the first major face. Further, the support member defines a line of separation at which the support member can be separated into first and second segment to permit expansion of the air filter. The filter media can form a plurality of pleats, with at least one pleat being free of bonding to the outer frame assembly. The unbonded pleat experiences expansion as the air filter transitions to an expanded state. The air filter can be configured for expansion in one or both of a length and width direction.
Foldable filter housing for air conditioning
A foldable filter housing for an air conditioning, including two outer frames stacked on each other, and each of the two outer frames includes two casings and a connecting portion connecting the two casings. The connecting portion is resilient to enable the two casings to fold relative to each other centered on the connecting portion. The two outer frames are detachably connected, and an accommodating space is defined between the two outer frames for receiving a filter cartridge.
Foldable filter arrangement consisting of a plurality of individual filter elements
The invention relates to a filter arrangement for cleaning an air stream having at least three filter elements, wherein each filter element has a bellows made of pleated filter medium, wherein the filter elements are arranged in series and any two adjacent filter elements are connected to one another by means of a connecting tab. According to the invention, a fold run-out of all end folds of all bellows is oriented in a particular direction, the connecting tabs are of two different embodiments and the different embodiments of the connecting tabs are arranged alternatingly when viewed in a longitudinal direction of the filter arrangement. Not only is a simple installation of the filter elements in a filter holder thus facilitated but also a defined seating of the filter elements in the filter holder is ensured.
FILTER FRAME HEADER LOCKING DEVICE
A header containing a multi-toothed tab forming a series of ratchets formed therein cooperatively engages a lanced section extending across the web of the cross section and depressed toward the inside of the cross section a selected depth that is greater than the tab thickness. One edge of the lanced and formed surface is formed with an upturned lip that functions as a pawl for the ratchets on the tab. Insertion of the tab into the lanced section of the receiver, each ratchet will be forced over the paw of the lanced section. The lanced section acts as a spring to allow the ratchet to pass over the paw and then pop back to its previous location ready to be flexed again for the next ratchet.
The header includes a longitudinal channel having a base channel and upwardly extending channel sidewalls and a pair of spaced apart aligned longitudinal reinforcement ribs extending along said longitudinal channel base. The channel sidewalls including a pair of inwardly projecting longitudinal shoulders spaced apart from and aligned with the reinforcement ribs. The longitudinal channel member include a first male end including a tab with two lateral half tangs for cooperatively engaging an opposing channel receiver including two lateral lanced portions forming inwardly raised transverse flanges on either side of said channel base, each with an upwardly projecting lip for cooperative engagement with the two tangs disposed on the tab surface of the opposing distal end of the longitudinal channel member. The channel receiver has two inwardly extending dimples which cooperatively engage an inwardly canted end portion of the tab to maintain engagement of the tangs with said upwardly projecting lips.
Compound air filter and method of removal of contaminants
An apparatus and a method are provided for a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) air filter to remove airborne molecular contaminants and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from air within building spaces. The air filter comprises a support frame having a shape and size suitable to orient the air filter within a HVAC system. A compound filter medium is retained within the support frame to remove the airborne molecular contaminants and VOCs from air flowing through the HVAC system. A portion of the first media layer is pleated and may comprise a combination of media layers configured to exhibit a relatively high filtration efficiency and a low air pressure drop across the filter medium. A second portion of the filter medium is coupled to the first portion and maintains a uniform distribution of the pleats with the first portion.
