The technology can include a device that includes a substrate coated in a polymer that is infused with a pathogen inactivating material. In various embodiments, at a given time, a portion of the pathogen inactivating material is exposed to the environment, and the device is configured to periodically or intermittently expose additional pathogen inactivating material to the environment. For example, the polymer can be ablative or sacrificial.

ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT FILTER ASSEMBLY
20220136719 · 2022-05-05 ·

An ultraviolet light filter assembly includes a filter and an ultraviolet light assembly. The filter is coupled to the ultraviolet light assembly. When the air flows through the ultraviolet light filter assembly, the filter absorbs particles that are present in the air. However, ultraviolet light assembly provides UVC light that damage RNA and DNA of the pathogens present in the air. As a result, the air becomes more purified after passing through the ultraviolet light filter assembly.

In certain exemplary embodiments, an air purifier comprises a housing defining an enclosure and having an air entrance and an air exit; a particulate filter; a NCCO filter material configured to adsorb and decompose at least one gaseous pollutant; an AOG configured to generate at least one oxidant; an oxidant remover configured to remove at least one oxidant; a fan unit configured to generate airflow from the air entrance to the air exit; wherein the particulate filter, the NCCO filter material, the AOG, the oxidant remover and the fan unit are positioned within the enclosure such that during operation, a flow of air passes from the air entrance to the air exit through the particulate filter and the NCCO filter material along a direction of the flow of air. In certain embodiments, the air purifier may ensure safety to users while efficiency in removing contaminants can be greatly improved.

ELECTRET-CONTAINING FILTER MEDIA

Filter media, such as electret-containing filtration media for filtering gas streams (e.g., air), are described herein. In some embodiments, the filter media may be designed to have desirable properties such as stable filtration efficiency over the lifetime of the filter media, increased normalized gamma, relatively low pressure drop (i.e. resistance), and/or relatively low basis weight. In certain embodiments, the filter media may be a composite of two or more types of fiber layers where each layer may be designed to enhance its function without substantially negatively impacting the performance of another layer of the media. For example, one layer of the media may be designed to have a relatively low basis weight and/or a relatively high air permeability, and another layer of the media may be designed to have stable filtration efficiency and/or a relatively high efficiency throughout the filter media's lifetime. The filter media described herein may be particularly well-suited for applications that involve filtering gas streams (e.g., face masks, cabin air filtration, vacuum filtration, room filtration, furnace filtration, respirator equipment, residential or industrial HVAC filtration, high-efficiency particulate arrestance (HEPA) filters, ultra-low particular air (ULPA) filters, medical equipment), though the media may also be used in other applications.

ANTI-VIRAL GRANULAR ACTIVATED CARBON FOR GAS PHASE FILTRATION APPLICATIONS

The present application relates to activated carbon compositions for removing viral, bacterial, or other infectious particles from air. The activated carbon was found to be effective at filtering aerosolized bacteriophage particulates and could be applied to barrier materials which prevents viral particulates from passing through, for example in home filters or masks or other coverings to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
