An air filter oil composition is provided for enhancing airflow and filtration of air passing through an air filter. The composition includes a first portion comprising paraffinic oil, a second portion comprising polyalphaolefin (PAO), and a third portion comprising black dye. Applying the air filter oil composition to a cotton air filter material causes tackiness throughout the air filter material, thereby enhancing airflow and filtration of air passing through the air filter. The composition generally is substantially non-reactive, has an excellent oxidation stability, possesses good thermal stability, and retains a suitable viscosity at normal operating temperatures of an automobile engine. In an embodiment, the composition comprises 96.74% paraffinic oil by volume, 3.20% PAO by volume, and 0.06% black dye by volume. A viscosity of the composition at 100 degrees-C. ranges between about 7.2 centistokes and about 7.6 centistokes.

The method of manufacturing the air filter includes preparing a filter fabric having voids, and spraying an adhesive to the interior and the exterior of a filter fabric, and the adhesive is an adhesive material which is maintained in a gel state when the curing of the adhesive material has been completed.

The air filter assembly comprises a peripheral frame adapted to be supported in communication with an intake opening in a residential return air duct; and a filter media mounted within the frame for removing particulate from air flowing from an upstream side of the filter assembly to a downstream side of the air filter assembly. The downstream side of the filter media comprises a layer of filter media treated with the tackifier material or a sticky oil and the antimicrobial substance.

An apparatus and methods are provided for a filtered cap air filter configured to be coupled with an air intake system of an internal combustion engine. The filtered cap air filter comprises a filter medium that is retained between a base and a filtered cap. The filter medium and the filtered cap are fabricated to remove contaminants and particulate matter from an intake airstream. In some embodiments, the filter medium and filtered cap may be configured to be treated with a filter oil composition to enhance air cleaning properties of the filter media. Wire supports may be incorporated into the filter medium and filtered cap to provide additional strength and durability to the filtered cap air filter. The base includes a flange and an opening that form an airtight connection between the filtered cap air filter and an air intake duct of the air intake system.

A system and method of forming fiberglass air filtration media is disclosed which does not require the use of oil additives. A mixture of resin binder, polymer, and dry adhering agent is formed and applied to the fiberglass as it spins onto the drum. Additionally, the fiberglass filtration media density can vary such that the fiber on the air inflow is less dense than the fiber on the air outflow. After oven curing, the finished air filtration media has an improved ability to attract and hold dust and other contaminants.

PASSIVE DEVICE FOR CAPTURING MICROPARTICLES IN SUSPENSION IN THE AIR

The present application is directed to a device which serves to capture microparticles in suspension in the air and which has no active means of ventilation and no means of electrical energy supply. The device comprises a structured support traversed by a large number of openings with a minimum dimension of between 1 millimetre and 15 mm, the structured support having a void fraction of greater than 80%, the structured support being coated with a medium for capturing the microparticles in suspension in a flow of air, the medium being chosen from among: vegetable oils, mineral oils, synthetic or semi-synthetic oils, water-soluble lubricants, silicone oils, animal fat, the structured support coated with the capturing medium being configured to be traversed by a flow of air at a linear speed of between 0.1 and 5 m/s without causing a pressure drop of more than 300 Pa, preferably without causing a pressure drop of more than 250 Pa. The present application is also directed to a method for capturing microparticles in suspension in the air and to the use of the device, more particularly in an underground network for transporting passengers by rail.

A method for wetting volatile material positioned on a filter from an additive manufacturing process includes passing a passivation fluid to an interior space of a filtration system including an outer housing, a filtration medium, detecting an amount of passivation fluid passed to the interior space with a volume detection device, determining whether the amount of passivation fluid passed to the interior space is less than a configurable threshold, in response to determining that the amount of passivation fluid passed to the interior space is less than the configurable threshold, continuing to pass the passivation fluid to the interior space, and in response to determining that the amount of passivation fluid passed to the interior space is not less than the configurable threshold, stopping the passing of passivation fluid to the interior space.
