System for Capturing Carbon Dioxide and Other Gases
20230158450 · 2023-05-25 ·

Disclosed are devices and methods for capturing carbon dioxide and other gases. All gas-capturing systems employ chemical fluid/media for binding purposes. One system delivers chemicals in droplet form, while another system delivers feed gas in bubble form. All systems employ an admixing chamber for confining and uniting particles of matter, as well as streaming means for placing gas in confinement. The droplet-based delivery system packetizes chemicals using an atomizing device, while the bubble-based delivery system packetizes gaseous feedstock using metering means, rerouting means, perturbation means, and stream-dividing means. The droplet and bubble systems feature common or unique advantages relating to chemical flow, surface area, and/or progressive cycling. These advantages increase the efficiency of gas-capturing devices in general and decarbonizing devices in particular.

PROCESS FOR HYDROTREATING A FEED STREAM COMPRISING A BIORENEWABLE FEEDSTOCK WITH TREATMENT OF AN OFF-GAS STREAM

A process for hydrotreating a feed stream comprising a biorenewable feedstock is disclosed. The process comprises hydrotreating the feed stream in the presence of a hydrotreating hydrogen stream and a hydrotreating catalyst to provide a hydrotreated stream. The hydrotreated stream is separated into a hydrotreated liquid stream and a hydrotreated gas stream. The hydrotreated liquid stream is subjected to stripping to provide a stripper off-gas stream. At least a portion of the stripper off-gas stream is contacted with a caustic stream to provide a sulfur-lean gas stream and a sulfur-rich caustic stream. The sulfur-rich caustic stream is further treated to provide a treated gas stream.

TURBINE EXHAUST GAS SYSTEM USING PRODUCED WATER AND OZONE INJECTION
20220332598 · 2022-10-20 ·

A system and apparatus for treating and disposing of produced water in conjunction with gas turbine exhaust gas, thereby avoiding problems associated with injecting produced water back into subsurface strata. The system is installed at or near the wellhead where produced water being treated is at a higher temperatures. Produced water is treated with ozone injection in a scrubber with heat applied through introduction of gas turbine exhaust gas. A wet scrubber unit with scrubber packing is used to clean emissions. A produced water pump is used to circulate produced water, and pump produced water through spray nozzles in the scrubber unit for use as the wet scrubbing agent. As produced water evaporates, evaporated salts and solids are continuously removed from the evaporator/scrubber unit by appropriate means, such as an auger system. The evaporated salts and solids are then treated via chemical stabilization in a mixing system with chemical reagents to prevent the residual form from being hazardous. The residual material is then stored and disposed of properly.

Gas scrubbing process for purifying raw synthesis gas by physical absorption in methanol

The invention relates to a gas scrubbing process and plant for purifying raw synthesis gas by physical absorption in methanol. A raw synthesis gas stream which includes hydrogen and carbon monoxide as desired constituents and water and acid gases as undesired constituents is admixed with methanol and subsequently cooled below the freezing point of water. According to the invention a liquid phase including methanol and water is separated from the cooled raw synthesis gas stream. Acid gases are removed from the remaining gaseous phase by physical absorption in methanol at elevated pressure. Separating the water from the raw synthesis gas stream before the absorption of the acid gases prevents larger amounts of water passing into the methanol circuit of the gas scrubbing process. This achieves savings in resources and certain plant parts may be smaller than is customary.

The water recovery device is configured to remove the water vapor within the chamber when the water recovery system is in the extraction mode.

Generation of an alkaline liquid and forming a continuous generation alkaline liquid loop

A process is provided using a concentrated sodium bicarbonate solution as a solubilizer mixed with a calcium hydroxide to chemically produce an insoluble calcium carbonate and produce an alkaline liquid solution, then passing the alkaline liquid solution through detrimental gases in a scrubber to produce an enhanced sodium bicarbonate which regenerates the sodium bicarbonate thus creating a continuous closed loop. The process can also produce a sodium phosphate (trisodium phosphate) by mixing the alkaline liquid solution with a phosphoric acid.
